Look closely at their faces. Look closely at their skating. Look how Bobby is trying to hide his emotions towards Morgan. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that Bobby Orr is Morgan Rielly's biological father.

Morgan will have to compensate Franson if he wants the #4, but my bet is Burke trades him before that, so Morgan will have #4 before too long.

Button ranking is flattering, not sure though Rielly is ahead of Yakupov though.

In the future, I wouldn't be surprised if he is more valuable to their teams, more than Nail, Murray or Gally.

IMVHO I think that Rielly, Gally, and Yakupov are starting to distance themselves from their peers...or maybe better to say that Morgan and Gally are closing the gap with Yakupov.

The whole #4 thing is falling into place nicely. I don't see Franson being here by next year either

are you serious??
not really. i guess most hockey playering kids rielly's age would know vaguely who bobby orr is. probably wouldn't know much about him though, other than what they learn watching don cherry every week, or what their grandfathers tell them.

for a kid born in '94, odd choice for an idol though. i would guess most kids that age have idols who are still playing, or just recently retired.

have no fear, i'm not saying anything negative about morgan rielly. just found it to be an interesting/odd point.

Not sure how it could be construed as anything negative about Rielly. I think Bobby Orr is one of those guys who transcends the game. People will know who Gretzky is/was, or Lemieux, for a very long time to come.

If you're confused then so am I. I thought Giguere and Button WAS what we where talking about.

My POV is that if we are going to look at Button as a judge of future potential in a player then we have to look at his history. Now when we look at some of the players he gave up on there are three names that are just too big to dismiss. Giguere may be a distant 3rd on that list but he was the 3rd strike in Buttons carreer in CGY.

Which is why I have no faith in him as a judge of player potential.

edit: Which is why I have no faith in these rankings.

 Maybe we're both confused? In any event whether or not Button is any good at evaluation one decision he got right was to trade Giguere from the Flames when he did. Two blunders with Savard and St Louis and one correct call with Giguere.

People always stated that Coffey was not good defensively.....mistakenly. The same was said about Orr as well.

I was not comparing Rielly to Orr, but Orr is his idol....I was just refuting your comment.....

Coffey was absolutely horrible defensively. I would bet that not even he would argue that fact.

You would lose that bet.....a career plus player.

There seems to be some stereotype that exists when a player is gifted offensively people just assume he's terrible defensively.

The fact is, when you have elite puck-moving skills, in order to use them, you must take some risk and can never be a top-notch defender in terms of defense.

The dude scored 130 points a season, who gives a **** if he was bad defensively

Good grief, I swear no player is accepted on HFBoards unless he scores 100 points AND wins the Selke.

Murray has done nothing to lower his stock since the draft but Rielly has passed Reinhart for me.

In the Canada game today I thought Rielly struggled but I really hope he isnt stuck with Hamilton the whole time because their style of play doesn't compliment well

I'm looking forward to the Gally vs Rielly battles in the very near future. Two absolute studs, Riles is one of the most beautiful skaters I've ever seen.
