Maybe it is that and his 1.85 PPG in the OHL this year? I remember when he started slowly and people were questioning him.

Not sure what point you are trying to make here. Both Rielly and Galchenyuk have had great years since their drafts. Which one is better now is up for debate. Plus - comparing defensman to forwards is apples to oranges.

I really love what Rielly can bring to the organization and am truly happy to have him, but in an ideal world, but I think I'd rather have the security of knowing we have a legit top center option in the pipeline like Galchenyuk. It's crazy that we were basically one loss away from having to make that decision for ourselves.

He's playing the wing in Sarnia and on team USA. He could be a centre, but as for a legit top centre, that can be debated.

I disagree with this. From what I've seen he is physical, just not in the sense of crushing people. I've seen him go into the the corners to dig out a puck, he's more the type of player to use positioning to gain control of the puck than anything else.

I didn't say he was super soft or anything, but he's not physical compared to your average hockey player, he pretty much never hits. He has decent size/strength, and likes to use his body to protect the puck, but he doesn't initiate much contact defensively, and I've literally never seen him throw anything close to a big hit. He's like the Sedins, good at protecting the puck with his body, but otherwise doesn't have much physicality to his game. Also like the Sedins, he's generally one of the least physical players on the ice, other than puck protection (which is more about TAKING contact than dishing it out).

Again, I really, REALLY like Rielly as a prospect, but people do need to realize that he has strengths and weaknesses. When fans say that he's decently physical, or good defensively, those are straight up lies. He's completely dominant with the puck on his stick, elite skating, stick handling and vision, and really aggressive offensively (looks to make things happen almost every shift), but he does have weaknesses, namely well below average physicality, below average defensive play, and a mediocre shot (not a bad shot, but not elite like his other offensive tools).

I don't get this, Gally didn't exactly stand out against the Finns, infact his blind backhanded passes were often intercepted.

Not sure why we are back to the prefer Gally over Rielly thing again, after 2 meaningless pre tourney games.

If anything, it's the system we have chosen to play, don't like it, reminds me of Nagano. All this talent and we have trouble scoring.

I don't prefer Galchenyuk over Rielly, I just wish that when we were adding an elite talent like Rielly that we could have filled that gaping hole at center and how difficult that decision would have been if we were in the three slot. I'd just as soon convert Rielly to center and see how he does!

Maybe we will this draft, I am convinced Rielly will prove he was the right pick, it's a bit fustrating knowing he can do more as he did in the Subway series, but perhaps is not getting the chance to right now. Still the real games are when the cream rises to the top. Hope Spott realizes he can make a difference.

Well the first game, Hamilton was a terrible pairing period. Hamilton is the top dog and he wants the puck and is also counted on for offense. However I expected WAY MORE once paired with a defensive d who is expected to stay back.

I am not saying minutes don't play a part but he still got the minutes to play his game. So if he doesn't get 30 minutes then his useless? Also with the penalties he doesn't get into the flow but you can't just put it on minutes.

He just doesn't seem aggressive. We'll find out on boxing day either way. I guess you can't put too much stock in these games, although can't dismiss all together either.
