Panthers led the league in penalties last year and won the cup, being on that edge opens up the ice for the skilled guys. As a team, we drew more penalties than we took, being a greasy rat is part of his game, so long as his penalties aren't retaliatory ones he gets lured into, I'm good with him taking penalties.

Our scouts are geniuses!

Imagine all the time we wasted looking at everything else...

PIMs is actually a stat I basically never looked at lol

I wish I was as hockey savvvvvvy
There's another advanced stat, which is the height of the player. The use of advanced AI by our horde of data analysts led to the discovery of this obscure market inefficiency, and we've been reaping the rewards ever since!

I wish someone would come off with the perfect formula! like height x PIMs + weight divided by?

Allows them to ask "are you tall?" in their time restricted interviews.

Is your reckless , risky, often suspect defensive play due to your coaches asking you to go all in on offense? Oh yah that was it.... That's our boy!

A picky comment lol.
Now peers how do you define that?
21 year olds graduating from the CHL or is it a narrower definition .. 21 year olds in the NHL or even narrower ?
I can tell you this if you look at CHL players in the same age group or even all hockey players in that age group .. How many get to represent their country internationally at the U20 level.. like what %. Captaining your CHL team. Playing full time in the NHL and centering a top 6 line for a period of time. Well above tweener status and looking at a long NHL career. 98+ % of all those players who played at a pretty serious level would look at Greig and say he was successful.

What does he have to do to be successful thus far in his career relative to his peers in your estimation?
Alright. He’s a winner. And will remain a winner regardless i was wrong

Hopefully dekes Rielly out to end up on a break away, scores a goal, and then does a celebration that triggers Rielly.

I'm hoping for a sniper action or pretending his stick is really hot the way Ovechkin did back in the day.

Whatever causes more salt for the Leafs
I am hoping for a devastating clean check by Greig on Reilly, followed up with another slap shot empty net goal. :)

Greig was the Senators' Swiss Army knife last season. Evolving-Hockey's data shows he logged 1,061 minutes across all situations, but Greig never had regular linemates at five-on-five. He was used everywhere, part of nine line combinations that logged between 30 and 79 minutes together. His versatility in playing up and down the lineup at centre and the wing made him invaluable to the Senators.

Evolving-Hockey's wins above replacement (WAR) model rated him as the Senators' third-most valuable forward behind Tim Stützle and Brady Tkachuk.

That lack of continuity may have hurt Greig's production.

What a trooper.

90 second shift, fights a guy giving up 40 pounds and 4 inches, lands the best punch, and wins the game.

He had a great game across multiple fronts.

Hab fans are going to be shocked and outraged when they find out he is in no way deterred from causing havoc. Realistically he's probably even more emboldened to stunt on those clowns.

I mean, Xhekaj went after Pare and in the very next game, Greig hit Dach with Xhekaj in the line-up.

I'm still waiting to see this magical deterrence they keep talking about.

By the end of this season, Greig will be living rent-free in the heads of the entire division.

Greig is a helluv a player, he needs to produce a little more offensively this yr & with the addition of Perron should help Ott put together a decent top nine. While they are not similar players Greig reminds me of a young Gallagher, hopefully he can be as productive offensively, but I love the rest of his game. He's a guy who can play C or LW on any line really & make himself known as a shit disturber.

The whole "remorseful day after" schtick is going to be even more infuriating to people as time goes on.

I love to see it.

Nice to see a young agitator who can score by owning up to hitting a player late. Hope he continues to hit hard, but just not in situations where we have to worry about our stars getting targeted in retaliation.

I don't understand.

All of our players will hopefully play every game. How can he prevent players from being targeted?

Our star players will be targeted all season, no matter how hard Greig plays. He needs to be himself, and just play hard all the time.

The bigger worry is finding that line where his play doesn't create short handed situations for us too often.

Greig and Rielly should drop the gloves. Then it'll be over.

If Rielly wants this, it'll happen. Greig dropped 'em with Dach and he's way bigger than Rielly.

If players who are physical and not afraid to dish out hits, like Greig, give out late hits on other teams' young stars (like Dach), other teams meatheads are more likely to go after our stars.

There is a small percentage of players that are predatory and will go after our stars regardless, but that doesn't mean we still want any of our guys giving out late hits or any more reason to give the borderline meatheads a reason to start targeting Stu or Sanderson, or even Greig himself.

Dach is not a star player.

I hope Greig keeps doing exactly what he's doing. Even if he takes a 2 minute minor against a soft player like Dach so be it. He'll draw more penalties than he takes anyway.

The shitbirds like Jackass are going to shit no matter what. It's what they do. Did Angus Crookshank do anything to deserve getting attacked in that rookie tournament?

I think the game happens fast and all players, young or not, need to be ready.

Late hits are part of the speed of the game, sometimes it is obvious but sometimes it is just how it goes.

There is zero time to be thinking of hitting this person or that, etc...not sure what game you have bee watching all these years.
