I actually liked the Fisherman at the time- just hated the soul crushing trades (i.e. somehow managed to both dismantle the last vestiges of the '93 team, and still trade McCabe and Bertuzzi).

Anyway, I'd like the (Navy) reverse retro from last year to be our full-time alternate at this point. Not much variation from the primary uniforms- but the "Navy" IMHO just gives a "classy" touch- maybe for weekend night games or something...

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm always disappointed when I get a jersey in the mail and the blue is too dark. It's never the lighter blue that I like when you see the jerseys in some pictures on the internet or even on TV. Don't know why the blue never matches what I think it will be in my mind. Maybe I just don't know enough of the science behind colors, monitors etc...I just know I wish the blue on the jerseys was a bit lighter. I ain't talking cornflower blue...but just less navy and a little lighter shade than royal.

Depends where you get them I guess. The knockoffs aren't ideal with the color matching but I never have a problem when I'm spending a lot of money.

Y’all should read We Want Fishsticks, and what an absolute shit show it was with the whole fisherman jersey process. Basically created on the back of a bar napkin and those in charge we’re like ‘oh yah that looks good’. SMH.

And teal? GTFO with that shit. Teal is only for dolphins jerseys, and even then it looks stupid.

The Islanders have historically had the ugliest 3rd jerseys in the history of sports. From the Fishsticks to Orange Puke to that Black and Blue and then the BK Black. I did like the Winter Classic jersey and wasnt against that logo but bringing back the fish sticks takes me back to when our top all star was Scott Lachance.

I also prefer the wave to look like the one on that Japanese painting. That should be the background, crashing around a lighthouse with a black bearded guy in the shelter of lighthouse.

A hot button issue for sure.

I am firmly PRO fisherman, personally. All that goofy retro stuff is back in style nowadays, and while yes, the jersey is associated with painful memories, it is also pretty thematic for the isles as a design, and I like the idea of "reclaiming" it so to speak and finally exorcising the ghost. If the isles had a successful season with this Jersey as an alternate, I think it would go a long way to killing off the distaste some have for the fishstick.

Worth noting I am not from Long Island, so I never had to personally deal with the sting of that time. I know others who did feel different, and I can appreciate that.

Last thought - there is a decent demand for fisherman merch, I think it would be a wise decision for the Islanders to at least officially release licensed merch even if they don't use the fisherman for jerseys.
Just No.

Stop yelling at clouds, who cares. It's a cool looking logo and jersey and people will buy it.
Yeah, they'll probably sell 29 of them.

I've had the same 3rd jersey idea forever. Thick burnt orange stripe along the bottom of the jersey, kind of like this color:

That's the beach. Above that is royal blue - the ocean. At the shoulders, white - the sky. No teal. The logo is a light house, maybe sitting on "Islanders" (rocks). A couple of stripes on the arms. Maybe a shoulder patch or two. Call it a day.

Long Island is now aware that there are sharks in the water, make sure they are represented in the blue part of the jersey.

The lighthouse thing seems very AHL/minor league. I understand why people like it, however, just doesn't seem NHL-style fit. Also, while it's tied to the market, it's also a bit limiting in that sense too. A shoulder patch or something would be fine.

Right now, the Isles 50th 70's-style logo is really interesting. That Gold is interesting. Something with that emphasis would be really dynamic (and retro) for certain 50th season home games.

Many of us became fans during that time and it represents the start of our journey as fans, sorry some of you can't get past the childish insults hurled by the rival fans. I don't have a problem with bringing it back in some capacity, I just don't think it should ever be the main logo. The recent NY is great and I want more of that.
I agree 100% with this.

I am only into using the fisherman as an alternate, and I would be less open to it if the isles had many other decent alternates... but we don't really.

Teal is gorgeous, hard disagree.

NHL needs more green.

One thing I’m certain of is that Rags fans will be giddy if the Isles bring back those abominations.

What will happen? They'll call us fishsticks and make fun of us for never being able to sign top players and not being able to win? What's the difference between that and what they do now?

Nothing?

it's 2022. anyone can birth a sentient entity whose gender will be discovered during their own personal journey and revealed to you at a later time; only if they feel safe to do so. I mean jeez, open your mind for crying out loud.
Ok if I keep mine closed??
