Probably not. Intangibles probably played a big role in the decision.
Number one thing that struck the FLYERS ass.gm was his size. He's much bigger than he believed. Clearly over 5'10 and over 180 pounds. He says services had not updated their measurements of him in a couple of years. So the size argument is a non-starter.

Here
Reinbacher and Newhook
This is what we got out of this draft.

Past 2nd round, it's players picked with fingers crossed...magic beans, every year so I don't pay too much attention in who they pick.

That's 2 pieces of the puzzle.....not cornerstone but still 2 pieces.
Those 2 pieces ''complete'' the puzzle of the rebuild

Now we can put together a full line up of Under 23 years old

Dach - Suzuki - Caufield
Slafkovsky - Newhook - Farrell
RHP - Beck - Heineman
Roy - Kidney - Mesar

Guhle - Barron
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Harris

Of course that will never be a full NHL line-up but the puzzle is full cause there's other prospects too.

Now we need to improve on what we have, not add.
That’s not a cup winning lineup. That’s almost depressing, thank god for UFA’s then.

This is what Brent Flahr, assistant Flyers GM said:
"He's an elite goalscorer and playmaker...Every-time he touches the puck in the offensive zone it's going to the net. There's things happening. He has an innate ability like Connor (Bedard).... He just makes stuff out of the nothing, very few players in the world can."

I'm curious if the Habs staff disagree with this appraisal?
Do they disagree? They don’t know the difference.

Didn’t you see how the whole staff supported the Reinbacher pick? Hughes may have surrounded himself with a buncha worthless yes-men.

How in the world did they settle for what most seem to say is a “top 4” D? Notice how no one is saying he’s a potential no. 1 D.

Compare to the offensively gifted player they passed on — did you see anyone call him a potential top 6?

Mike Johnson today said what a lot of us think — the elite scoring forward is the more rare asset than the 2-way D.

Even Pee-air, FWIW, would have picked Michkov.

Huge missed opportunity that could impact the franchise for a long time. Watching Briere react with elation when Michkov landed on his lap thanks to the two drafting fools ahead of his pick, said all we needed to know.
Literally everyone in the sphere of hockey was thinking Michkov
All f ans wanted Michkov
Michkov is a 100 points player to the upcoming
But yet ur right they pick a guy that they don't even have high hope for him.

Keeping Lapointe who sucked with Timmins and Bobrov the reason why the rangers completely failed their scouting is just insulting the habs fans.

2 imbeciles running the future and that's why we have none.

It is clear as day that this org. still values character and attitude above all else, hence why they drafted the dman

Those imbeciles will eventually get canned. But not before they get to ruin a couple of more drafts.

You are sadly right . We can't ever find a gem player in top picks of any rounds , no surprise players getting a major role.

Man if you look at our lineup , which is like 70% of kids and yet that roster is complete trash to watch except for Suzuki and Caufield together.

Can you imagine if Suzuki and Caufield both get injured? We fight for the last spot.

He will say anything to save his butt lol.

This is only his second draft and less than two full seasons on the job. What job is he saving because there's literally zero chance he's fired? And that isn't a Molson thing before someone brings that up. No owner in the entire league is firing their GM two years in because of fan perception on a player who hasn't even touched NHL ice yet.

Let come on. It's one thing to be disappointed but people need to dial back the fantasy.

That's not without development for sure. But that will never be a full line-up either.
But we have everything we need to build most of it, all we need is that one or two players that will either breakout...or we'll have to start wealing and dealing cause we have a whole lot of them.

Dude have you seen Bobrov's tone and facial expressionj at the PC? Does this look like a man enthusiastic about defending the choice they made yesterday?

The contrast with last year was significant.

Whoever took the real decision should have sat his ass in that presser.
Can’t wait for the “behind the scenes content” they usually post.

You are right , but if fans were to get really angry and actually gives a shit about the product on ice , I would tell you that this management wouldn't last their 5 years contract.

I just found out that Reinbacher’s non-hockey career involves studying to be a head hunter.

Those mind hive scouting underlings who acted like parrots to help select him, will need his services sooner than later.

Man im legit dissapointed of this franchise. It's like not even rage anymore.
It's like a void or a black hole that there is no hope to ever comeback.

Our prospects are so boring that nobody is hyped. Our prospects are so overrated they struggle to make playoffs in the AHL

I was so hyped that Michkov could be available , after SJ picked Smith. I was standing in front of my PC , Then I heard Carey Price crying for us saying David because he knew.... that everyone would be dissapointed.

This is why UFAs or popular players don't want to play here , because we simply suck

At this point I don't know what to think, still trying to figure out what the hell happened last night. All I can say is Reinbacher is a solid RD with upside who fills a need. (They are indeed hard to find) So in that regard it's not a total loss, it may infact turn out to be a great choice.. I'm just having a hard time accepting it was the right one last night. At this point we can only hope for the best, disappointed or not.

Welcome to Montreal David, and good luck!!

I'm just hoping our fans give you a fair shake, because you've been put in a very difficult situation that has nothing to do with you. The inevitable comparisons to Michkov should be reserved for the management team. Please let's not make him the scapegoat.

Just breathe everybody. He could be a big piece of this team going forward.
