If you are blind, and you needed a confirmation that we did not go with BPA... From the bald goof, himself.

This is saying that they might not have chosen him if he played the only position where we are set for the next 6yrs. That's an entirely reasonable decision if the talent is close.

I don't have the stomach to listen to any of this, but did so feared Mtl media throw a bunch of softball questions to Hughes and his scouting staff?

If they really believed Reinbacher was the best available, I could understand going with their guts.

But Kent Hughes straight up said his ceiling was "D2".

Come on. His CEILING, a #2 defenseman. Won't run a PP1.

With MICHKOV on board!

I take it if he wins a Norris it's just a lucky pick.

Can't wait to see the draft day video with the internal scout meeting

Only one I'm interested in hearing about is Michkov. But they won't release those discussions.

Just gotta hope Reinbacher pans out. Newhook too.

Which only confirms that the Flyers were going to go all out to land the player had we convinced them that we’d pick him.

Brière even had the Flyers pundit Anthony Di Marco deliver bullshit to try and get everyone off the scent. This one’s going to sting a long time.
This is what Brent Flahr, assistant Flyers GM said:
"He's an elite goalscorer and playmaker...Every-time he touches the puck in the offensive zone it's going to the net. There's things happening. He has an innate ability like Connor (Bedard).... He just makes stuff out of the nothing, very few players in the world can."

I'm curious if the Habs staff disagree with this appraisal?

Probably not. Intangibles probably played a big role in the decision.

How in the world did they settle for what most seem to say is a “top 4” D? Notice how no one is saying he’s a potential no. 1 D.

Compare to the offensively gifted player they passed on — did you see anyone call him a potential top 6?

Mike Johnson today said what a lot of us think — the elite scoring forward is the more rare asset than the 2-way D.

Even Pee-air, FWIW, would have picked Michkov.

Huge missed opportunity that could impact the franchise for a long time. Watching Briere react with elation when Michkov landed on his lap thanks to the two drafting fools ahead of his pick, said all we needed to know.

They are NOT going to get away with that one by spindoctoring it like they've been doing since yesterday.
You'd like them to publicly criticize Michkov so you can understand their decision making? Seems unlikely.

Hughes didn't pick Michkov, because he's scared of taking chance, but if he would have done his job properly, there was no problem drafting Michkov, the Flyers did theirs, not taking Michkov will haunt him until he looses his job.

Reinbacher and Newhook
This is what we got out of this draft.

Past 2nd round, it's players picked with fingers crossed...magic beans, every year so I don't pay too much attention in who they pick.

That's 2 pieces of the puzzle.....not cornerstone but still 2 pieces.
Those 2 pieces ''complete'' the puzzle of the rebuild

Now we can put together a full line up of Under 23 years old

Dach - Suzuki - Caufield
Slafkovsky - Newhook - Farrell
RHP - Beck - Heineman
Roy - Kidney - Mesar

Guhle - Barron
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Harris

Of course that will never be a full NHL line-up but the puzzle is full and that's the end results of this draft. I don't like this draft but it brought the 2 pieces to be able to have exactly what we needed in terms of positional team building.

Now we need to improve on what we have, not add.
