Some people have been saying that all along and coincidently they are the ones who aren't losing their shit.

Hughes won't stay here long if he gets handcuffed like that, not only by being forbidden to draft BPA in this case, but also because Molson and PR seemingly managing expectations with leaks (or maybe the leaks were accidental, both situations are egregious), which removed much of his leverage cause teams knew he wouldn't pick him.

Nobody here wanted Tkachuck. Zadina was far and away the poll winner.
KK was also very appreciated in the last month. I would say as much as Zadina. But there were only few fans that were fan of Tkachuck. There was that fan absolutely obsess with Katchuk , he was so sure it was the one Bergevin wanted, whining more then once every single day

I can't believe I'm seeing this.
People who were praising our front office for their intelligence. vision. and approach to team building. Have turned on a dime.

This what we have done so far this off season. Signed Caufield to a team friendly 8 yr deal. Avoided a potential disaster by remaining firm on Dubois.
Drafted a highly ranked top pairing D. Traded away a late first and an early second for a player they obviously know well who will add speed and versatility to our top 6. The rest is like gravy or icing on a cake if anything hits.

What a freaking disaster. We didn't select the great and wonderful magician Matvei Michkov who can just as easily become a net negative drag.

It's a distinct possibility.
My guess is by training camp the angst will have died down and we will look at the body of work done this summer more objectively.
This is in no way shape or form Bergevin Bad.

Molson saying no to Mitchkov makes me lose my shit more, since it's proof this organization is rotten to its very core.

But most of us already knew that. It's run like a corporation that wants to sell beers, condos, and 1-round playoff tickets instead of caring about winning hockey games.

Grant, how about you tell us how many of those Cup winners had players that have had 100 point seasons in their careers. Now tell us how many years the Habs entered the playoffs with 100 point players since our last Cup In 1993.

I think Grant wants a job with the Habs again, so he's acting as positive PR for them. I've never seen him say anything negative about them.

Cheers man. You could have said « time-travelling mind-controlling magician », as his future stats in 3 years are apparently worth enough for the mob to converge onto Reinbacher and the habs with pitchforks (Seems like a good kid too).

Was this confirmed?

Somebody should inform Grant that league scoring has went up in the last 4 years. What was an 80-90 point player 5 years ago is now a 100+ player.

He always seems to lack the most basic of contexts.

Stop, stop! You'll hurt his precious narrative!

What?

Was this confirmed?

No, it was a hypothetical from a previous post.

Well thats pretty much about not taking Michkov. If we took Leonard, Dvorsky or Benson people would have been pissed about missing Michkov as well.

Michkov is still a very small player and things are never sure 100%. If he does become a 100 point player of course it stings but at the same time if we get playoffs success with Reinbacher and he becomes a great 1st pairing guy, it can be a whole different story.

Maybe Michkov become not so great while we have a 1st pairing guy and with hindsight we will be happy with the pick. Maybe that will ends up beingna complete disaster. I sont think he was a reach since he was sure to be a top 8 pick for a while now
There was a defined gap between top 5 and the rest. Top 8 wasn’t good enough. I was advocating for overpaying to trade up if they didn’t want Michkov. I wanted a star because of our advantageous position in the best draft in 20 years. We ended up trading two out of our top 3 picks and getting a defenseman who won’t even quarterback a power play. He’ll be steady and I’m not even mad about the pick. But we need a star. And I don’t know where we’ll get him.

I like your optimism ;)
Somehow I have a fealing we'll be the weakest team in the east for next 3-4 years if we stay with this roster.
The only thing that can put us out of Top10 in drafts is some massive tanking in the west.
Top 10 isn’t enough. You have to finish at the bottom. We need a star. If someone can explain how we’ll get one please do. I don’t see it. Stars are too quirky to meet our definition of a team guy with a good attitude.

I do want to say this… go look at every drafts in the past 15 years and look at who the FIRST d man was off the board. Odds are he hits as a top2 dman.

Points wise he could end up anywhere from 35-70 in his prime.

Hugues is the GM of Habs, not a scout.
He could have only see by videos, but the scouting staff them saw the dman live, something they couldn't with Michkov.

The Habs scouting team have probably worked 80-90 hours per weeks for a while. I am sure that Evrybody were there last weeks , ( Hughes as well ) so i don't put too much importance to those press conferences. They are extremely tired and are answering live questions in both languages
Exactly the organization has been all over Reinabacher like they stated and seen him live on multiple occaisions. Hughes himself has only seen video. Not hard to understand.

This has been a conjecture from the moment we started getting all the negative tweets from the regular group of schills. We've seen it more than once with this organization when they plan to take a decision they knew would be very disappointing to the fan base. Just remember how the PK Subban fiasco played out. A lot of smart people on this board called it for what it was. That type of manuever had to come from someone higher than Hughes and it involved more than one department.
