Puckdoku Game 247 - 9/9🏆:

.... :banghead:

Why the heck did I pick Armstrong of all players, when I could have gone Exelby, Par Lindholm, Modin, Petan, Kubina... (all off the top of my head)

A lot of my picks were surprisingly high %, higher than players I thought of but decided to avoid :eyeroll:

I just noticed recently that if you click the "My Stats" button, and then "View All" it shows more than just how many times you picked a player. It also shows if you're among the top of all users in picking that player.

So if you've picked Marian Hossa more than %90 of other puckdoku players, it will say "Top %10" beside his name. And if you've picked him more times than %99 of people, it will say "Top %1".

And if you picked someone more times than any other puckdoku player, it will show that you're #1 by giving you a "1st" with a star.

Funny enough I'm the #1 selector of Nikolay Kulemin.

Anyone else here the #1 picker of a player? I'd bet HF holds top billing for quite a few.

Oh geez, probably lots of them, let me check that out...

I am 1st overall for:

-Herberts Vasilijevs
-Raymond Sawada
-Mike Duco

And my top ranked players, with 5 selections each (and so many more before I made an account) are Rissmiller, Slegr and Jeff Brown

Some deep names here! I've never even heard those 3 names that I can remember. You were probably #1 for those guys after picking them only once! Great picks for puckdoku.

Vasilijevs and Duco are ex-Canucks with unique names, Sawada I remember as an AHL scorer, who unfortunately passed away recently, and I knew he only got NHL games with Dallas, so I use him every time DAL/Played for 1 team Career or DAL/AHL comes up.

Rissmiller is a great story - I played Dynasty Mode in NHL 2006 with San Jose, and I intentionally kept him and Niko Dimitrakos on my team because they were the lowest rated players I had, and it was fun throwing them on the 1st/2nd lines and seeing how high I could get their numbers despite their ratings :D

(and so I got attached to them, and followed their careers - Rissmiller works for SJS/WPG/FLA/NYR and Dimitrakos for SJS/PHI)

Thanks for sharing the stories. Puckdoku is so fun for this. Remembering players that stuck with you for some odd reason, even though they were never a big deal in the NHL.

I have a similar story with an NHLer who ended up as a coworker of mine long after he retired from hockey. (i won't share the name for privacy reasons). He only played a small number of games, but for 3 different teams. I've picked him like 7 times, getting like 0.1 uniqueness each time because he's so unknown.

At what time does it update? It's still on yesterday's for me :D

We used to have a huge Rissmiller fan on the boards when he played! She followed his career really comprehensively.

*laboured sigh* Well, I knew 30+ goals would kill me on MIN and FLA, actually got BOS wrong by picking the wrong Pederson (Denis, not Barry), so I decided to skip FLA to get that one right... :help:

Also, once again got Lucas and Gabriel Carlsson confused... really wish I had Dalpe in my holster for that one :pout:

The Californian teams and second round picks seem to be a blind spot for me :D

Had it been New York/New England or Alberta/Winnipeg and third round picks however...

I'm #1 in Mark Recchi, Eric Lindros, John LeClair and David Legwand. Used to have Mike Vernon and Dale Hunter...

Ugh, this was such a hard one, geez... (Edit: Average score of 5.8 and uniqueness of 314... welp :amazed:)

My misses were Guy Hebert for Gretzky/ANA (he missed him by 2 seasons), and Nick Petrecki, who I forgot was a 1st rounder :shakehead

Very good immaculate grid score today as well (5). Can't believe Hamill of all players was the one guy to hit at 1+% :amazed:

Also, how about 0.07% on Robert Lang??? Why does no one remember him?
(Edit: ok, probably because he only played 3 games for BOS, but I for some reason remember that :neener:)

I thought Raycroft had a better first season in Toronto and had already used up Belfour for Chicago. Ugh! Too bad at recent goalies. My next guess would have been Toskala and that would have been a dud too. Had to have Crapovtsev there - the worst excuse for a team mate in the history of the NHL

Cringed the moment I saw this one... :help:

1. Mixed up Mike Karakas' Calder Trophy with a Vezina
2. Jonathan Bernier for 2.50 GAA was a choice... an incorrect one! :D
3. Couldn't think of anyone good for TOR or NYR, they had consistent goalies in the dead puck era, which is usually the best era to pull from

Definitely could have done better today but misunderstood the CHI+Vezina square as the player winning the Vezina as a Blackhawk. But apparently it's any former Vezina winner who also played in Chicago.

Too many hail maries to get a good score though.

Another very solid immaculate grid attempt, score of 4 this time:

Good on Lintner, guy was a machine in the SEL. Hated to play forward but all coaches wanted to try him there. Had he started out a forward when he was 18, he would probably be a solid 25 goal scorer in the NHL.

It may change in the next 22 hours bit I tried to get 0 uniqueness by looking good answers.

Got eight players correctly and then picked Al Iafrate for Capitals player with 300+ assists career. He was picked by 1%.

And now Martin Gelinas has bumped up to 1% as 300+ career goals scored while having played for Hurricanes.
