Refs (again)

I think the reffing has been poor but Florida hasn't been good enough 100% and you just tip your cap to vegas. Florida deserves to be down 2. I'm not going to be a Leafs/Bruins/Canes fan and use the refs as a cope for my team shitting the bed. Play better.

Like the refs have been bad both sides but are Vegas fans complaining?

Blaming the refs is loser talk.

To be fair, Florida isn’t playing any differently now, than they’ve played all playoffs. This is Panther hockey. In prior rounds, much of this stuff didn’t get called. Now it is.

However you call games, it should be consistent, and most certainly it hasn’t been.

Both teams suffered from the officiating, refs should count their blessings that both teams actually sticked to trying to play hockey for as long as they did or it would’ve gotten out of hand entirely. They made horrible calls, they missed obvious calls and they had zero consistency throughout the game. The 10min missconducts they started to handing out was purely because they had failed as authority figures. They threw out Tkachuk for tapping Vegas player’s stick and Whitecloud for literally just tapping Florida player’s helmet with his glove but then allowed Montour(iirc) to stay on ice and start swinging at Vegas player’s ankles with 30 seconds left on the clock. This happened AFTER him and Reilly both went high on eachother multiple times after the whistle.

You can’t change the rules for one game after having set the precedent for over 82 game spawn, far less inside one game. They basically played by different rules in each period.

It was easily one of the most embarrasing officiating performances i’ve ever seen in the NHL. And this is coming from someone who has money on Vegas winning the cup.

come on. Joke or not there isnt a less deserving fanbase.
Depends on your mindset, I suppose.

Who’s the second least deserving?

Plus, if recent interpersonal experience with the public has taught me anything, it’s that lived experience trumps everything, and most of us have had really tough hockey fan lives even before the Knights showed up.

So maybe check your, whatever.

That's the problem I see with it. It's annoying to watch. I don't blame Florida fans for being frustrated by it.

Direct your anger and frustration at Paul Maurice who can’t keep his guys under control and act like sore losers who wanna goon it up.

Best is Vegas just laughing at them and ignoring

Barbashev dumping Duckair on his ass with a reverse hit and drawing a penalty and getting him kicked out of the game was perfect microcosm.
In fairness, Vegas started taking runs when the game was out of reach that were clearly not hockey plays and just efforts to fire back.

Vegas has seemed to get a little more leeway on borderline calls. But, they are kicking the hellfire out of FL regardless. Panthers going to have to do a whole lot better than that shit they plopped all over the ice tonight.

LoL, honestly, just imagine the shitstorm if Gudas or Bennett delivered the Barbashev on Gudas hit

The refs told us all. It was an unsportsmanlike. It wasn't called for anything related to the hit. It was called for what happened after the hit. And Barbie got a 10 min misconduct for the same.
No shit, you can’t award a 10 minute penalty for anything other than a misconduct.

Tkachuk hits Eichel clean. He is swarmed by Vegas players in what is almost always going to end in a power play for the team who conducted the clean hit. Tkachuk made Vegas mad for his actions, so they jumped him. A scrum. A misconduct is almost never awarded in this situation when a scrum goes beyond its welcomed period. Most certainly not in the Stanley Cup Finals. Very clearly the referees were game managing and chose to send both players who dished out big clean hits that injured their opponents off the ice to cool things down and avoid the potential for retribution or targeting. If you think it was because Tkachuk wouldn’t stop scrumming, you must be new to the sport.

I agree. As you say, the penalty was for what happened after the hit, not for the hit. We agree.

Man, they can’t make a damn pass, they’re running around all out of sync trying to defend.
This is nothing like they’ve been playing this playoffs

Because this hit isn’t called but tkachuk gets a penalty+10 for a solid hit on Eichel

Edit: you can even hear on that play lomberg gets sent to the box alone (for a stupid penalty) but still

You can all say only losers bitch and pull up the PPs the panthers had but they got them after the game was out of reach. Vegas has just as many iffy holds/cross checks. Just want a fairly called game

Give your balls a tug. Gudas was coming in for a hit and got LIT UP!

Which was not a penalty against Tkachuk and should’ve been against Vegas with Panthers on the PP lol
And that's a valid debate. The original post I was responding to claimed the penalty was for the hit. I said it wasn't. He came back and said I should keep telling myself that.

Anyway. This discussion isn't going anywhere. I'm out. :D

That week off completely destroyed the heater that they were on. They look nothing like the team that won the previous rounds at all. Top to bottom.

Gudas put himself in a vulnerable position so it won’t get supplemental discipline based on precedent but Barbashev had time and knew what he was doing there. He didn’t have to go through the head like he did

Nah they’re just actually playing an elite team for the first time since the first round.

Florida's playing the same aggressive game they've been playing all playoffs. Just that the rules have changed this series. Really feels like refs got a memo from someone that was pissed hearing about how Panthers have been getting away with stuff (we have). Don't feel like it's been necessarily biased, but the way the games are being called will be bad for Panthers the way they play.

I'm pissed as a Panthers fan that things change now that we're in the Cup Final and team can't play the way that got them here. It's really the best way they can win because Knights are the deeper team.

If I'm Boston, Toronto, or Carolina I'd be pissed because they didn't get the same treatment and could have a better chance against VGK if the rules were officiated differently.

Just as a hockey fan this is frustrating as the reffing held staying inconsistent.

Even as a VGK fan, I think this a totally fair assessment. And if I were a Florida fan, I would be frustrated too. The inconsistency is not a good look at all. Especially coming as late as the Finals series. If the refs wanted to reign in Florida's game, it should've happened earlier in the playoffs.

Barbashev had a choice. Be the nail or be the hammer. He chose the latter. Nothing dirty about it. likewise nothing wrong with the hit on Eichel.

There was a much more neutral outcome to be had there. Barbashev could have stood his ground without aggressively countering the contact.

No one should be celebrating someone’s brain taking that kind of damage.

This will be my last post on this one though because the vibe I’m getting from your posts is that you don’t agree with that prior sentence and if that’s the case there’s not going to be any common ground for us on this
