We played a good game. Especially liked our d-zone coverage.
Boys do need to get more shots off on the PP. Unless the opponent is giving you room to make the passes until somebody gets a grade A chance we better start putting more effort into longer distance shots for tips or banging in rebounds.

I would love to be able to read a post-game thread after a loss that didn't have what seems like half the posts blaming the refs for the loss.

Guys, it's ok to say that we didn't play well, and even to admit that the other team played better.

As for the penalty in OT, while it's true that a stick up in the hands doesn't always get called, any infraction is much more likely to be called when it results in a scoring chance, or prevents one. Reilly made a good play, and probably saved a goal, but there was nothing wrong with the penalty call.

How many times have you seen a defenseman get a penalty like Rielly did on a routine defensive play, not even in an OT situation? Tying up a man with the stick getting up into hands? If that’s a penalty every time, guys like Chara don’t have a pro career.

How many PP’s have the Leafs gotten in OT all year?

Overturning the penalty on Zacha? Sure that’s the right call. Whatever. But how often do you see the officials make sure they get it right for Toronto? It’s not that they were competent this time that’s the issue. It’s the fact that they call the game with bias, personal vendetta (Bunting) and are very prideful in every other instance when they make mistakes.
that’s fine and all, but sometimes you get bad calls. I understand that sometimes may seem more than “sometimes” for us, but nonetheless sometimes you get bad calls. The team needs to overcome them and win, it’s just like this team to kill off that powerplay and then let a goal in. The team still struggled to put the game away when they had the chance, we had 3 power plays and we scored 0 times. So whether or not the refs were “fair” or not, our big boys just couldn’t get it done, yet again.
This team has lost in Game 7 in 6 of their last 7 playoff series, including last year by one goal which was waved off when a pick play was called for the first time in hockey history.

They have a losing record in playoff OT since 2016.

And most egregiously, they get very few power plays compared to other high skilled, puck possession teams.

So yes, refereeing matters. Unfortunately, the coach and management share your view and rarely if ever put public pressure.
how many power plays have the refs given us in those games?

In the 3rd period of tampa we got 1 powerplay they got 0. Actually penalties called by the refs were 3-1 our favour for the game

In Montreal penalties were 2-1 leafs favour, we got the only power play in the 3rd when we were down

in Columbus it was 1-1

In bostons 2019 2-0 penalties in our favour

In Boston 2018 penalties were 3-2 leafs

Want to know what the leafs pp and pk % are during those games

Tampa 0/4
Montreal 0/2
Columbus 0/1
Boston 0/2
Boston 1/3
Aggregate: 1/12

If you watch the replay Kampf never actually touches the puck. Zacha clearly bumps the puck to Bertuzzi as Kampf goes to grab it, and the puck slides under his glove, and then Bertuzzi shoots the puck. The original call was correct. This is the best angle here:

Yup. Keefe doesn’t use him to his strengths. He can’t defend, and right now he’s not generating offense that he’s shown the capability of.
He has 7 points in his last 10. Pretty good considering the PP has hit a coldspell

It appears Nylander got benched for the final 5:30 of the game + OT

Good choice by Keefe
Hope this is the wake up call he needs

Shame he’s ending off what in most people’s eyes was the perfect season

Hopefully he gets back to what he was doing earlier come playoff time

His play has dropped like a stone after being put with Tavares. Been juggled to much. Will play like crap all playoff. Keefe sucks at manage him. Got one answer, benching or thirdline. Or Tavares.

If he just could do the same with Tavares...
I don’t see the same questionable effort with Tavares so sending him the same message seems like a purposeless act.
Tavares is getting older and his game is diminishing accordingly. That happens to every player eventually and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to change it.

Not playing last minutes or in OT might be a message to Nylander but not to Tavares, just a way to try to win.

Nylander might just suck . But it will not help playing them together. When not even Marner can solve it, then it is realy bad.

I dont think Willy on the LW is quite as effective and Willy and JTs chemistry has been bad for a while now. Willy should be with ROR or AM.

Haven't watched a minute of Leafs hockey in 2 years, tune in the second Luke Schenn fails to clear the puck and the Bruins score. Lmao
If it wasn't for a great play by Carlo thepuck would have got out.

Lol.
Schenn called for a phantom knee.
McCabe called for a Boston dive.
Refs illegally reverse a call they made on Boston because Boston fans were sad.
Rielly called for phantom hook in OT on a beautiful defensive play to hand Boston the game.
Refs in full playoff form I see.

Clinched home ice at least.

I don't think we've truly dominated a series (maybe Montreal), but at best most were coin flips...

I'm tired of getting bounced in the first round too though... this season (and probably last minus Matthews) has been very boring, I know we will finish top 3 in our division, just want to skip to the playoffs.
Ya I’m ready for the playoffs
