Rumor: Red Wings shopping for a D-man on trade market

We have waaaay too many forwards. If there's a decent trade for a defenseman to be made, it will be made.

Not straight up I'd imagine. The premium for young defensemen has gone up. Many are getting paid 5.5+ and Fowler is only being paid 4m. He's gonna cost more than Mantha.

There is no trade Holland could make for a 1D that either 1) he could stomach, since he doesn't make trades, and 2) that won't completely decimate our forward corp and set us back years.

We have little choice at this point, we just signed 3 new forwards and brought back a forward that we should have let walk. We have Jurco and Pulks out of waiver options, AA and Mantha are going to rot in Grand Rapids for a year more. We need to upgrade our D and we can't wait 4+ years for our new D prospects to be ready.

I would say at this point trade Mantha+ for a prospect D that is closer to being ready than our current D prospects. I like Mantha but at this point it is silly how many forwards we have.

If we keep Rakell at center to preserve center depth

If we move Rakell to the wing

We could slot in Ritchie but he doesn't look ready. It's imperative that the Ducks get wingers. It seems that Bieksa will not waive his NMC so we have to protect him in the expansion draft along with Lindholm and Vatanen. That leaves Michigan born Cam Fowler for a guy like Tatar.

It just makes too much sense at this point.

Would gladly trade Tatar and Sheahan for Fowler and a pick. Sheahan's a favorite of mine, but today's moves are making roster space up front very cramped for us.

Tatar is a stud too, a possession driving machine who is good for near 30 goals.

this **** is so dumb. no room for any red wing forwards prospects to even get a chance now and the defense still blows.

I'd do that too. Are they expansion exempt though? That's a concern I'd have (though one that can be addressed at a later time)

Someone whack Holland on the head and bring Fowler back to Michigan...

Christ...I can't believe I'm actively hoping one of my favorite players goes to the Red Wings...this feels weird.

Tatar+Svech+1st for EXTENDED Shattenkirk or Tyson Barrie?

I just don't want to trade Mantha. The guy is 6'5" and drives the net and can shoot. We have too many small softies.
