Would Sheahan+Tatar+2nd rounder get Shattenkirk?

Tatar+Jurco+2nd for Fowler?

Tatar+Svech+1st for EXTENDED Shattenkirk or Tyson Barrie?

I just don't want to trade Mantha. The guy is 6'5" and drives the net and can shoot. We have too many small softies.

Jurco's stats aren't that promising. I liked Tatar+Pulkkinen a little better.

I'd do that too. Are they expansion exempt though? That's a concern I'd have (though one that can be addressed at a later time)

Someone whack Holland on the head and bring Fowler back to Michigan...

Christ...I can't believe I'm actively hoping one of my favorite players goes to the Red Wings...this feels weird.

Oh get over it, I watched Fedorov go to the Ducks. :)

thank god we currently do not have the cap space to go out and resign Quincey. But then again... with this defence.... jeez.

I agree. Much prefer Pulkkinen.

This surprises me a little, I think Jurco will have a much better career. Pulkinnen will not make it in the League without his shot, and he has two big problems with it. The first is actually getting it off against quality defenseman, and the second is accuracy. As a Wings fan I would much rather give Jurco a legitimate chance on the 3rd line.

I mean I wouldn't mind. Tatar is the main ticket item I'm interested in. I'd prefer Nyquist if he was a left winger but he's not.

I'll be honest I didn't watch much of Jurco this year so those stats may not tell the whole story.

Put it this way. I'd take either deal if Fowler landed us Tatar. I'd prefer to go the route of trying to pry Landeskog from Colorado since it seems we 80% surely need to trade Fowler. Detroit seems like a far more logical choice. While Colorado is purely based on rumors of Landy's availability, there is a clear and obvious surplus of forwards in Detroit. Anaheim is in dire need of wingers, they have something of a blueline surplus (though Stoner and Bieksa are clogging up the pipes on guys like Theodore and Montour), and Fowler would probably love no destination more than Detroit who needs defense. It makes far too much sense.

Ultimately I would've preferred we trade Vatanen for some wing help instead of extending him (I think our defense hurts more without Fowler than Vatanen, we have Theodore who could mitigate some of the offensive loss), but here we are.

Both teams are in dire need of what the other has to offer. I'd think Shattenkirk is probably a better route to go, but he may cost more.

Pulk is one dimensional. Shoot. He actually does go to the net for a little guy though. The Wings PP was atrocious this year, so I still have hope for him.

Jurco is a big body who shows brilliant hands and will make a body check. I think he can be a 40 point 2nd liner/3rd liner in the right setting.

Tatar+Jurco/Pulk for Fowler. Sign me up.

Tatar+Sheahan+2nd for Shattenkirk. Sign me up.

I have to admit I am higher on Jurco than most, his stats are misleading. I would also prefer to hang on to Nyquist and trade Tatar. Probably in the minority combining those two thoughts.

Including Jurco with Tatar for Fowler is not even close to a deal breaker, either one is available. The problem with Shattenkirk is his contract, taking a big risk without an extension. Anaheim's need for wingers and Detroit's urgency for dmen makes a lot of sense for a trade.

I agree. The more the Lindholm and Rakell negotiations rage on, the more inclined Murray will be to fire off on a deal with KH. Especially if the market for wingers in free agency dries up (which it very nearly has)

Shatty seems safer, but my preference is Fowler. Build a team around some young homegrown boys like Larkin, DeKeyser and Fowler. Plus, he's under RFA control for a while longer.

Isn't Mantha basically a big softy instead of a small softy?

Agreed. I'm not sold on Shattenkirk to re-sign in Detroit.

I just don't see how a Tatar / Pulkinnen combo holds any attraction for GMBM given that both are under 6'. When was the last time the Ducks had a sub 6' winger in their top 6? When was the last time the Ducks even drafted a sub 6' winger in the first 3 rounds of any draft that GMBM oversaw?

why would he acquire 2 sub 6' wingers now??

Would Sheahan+Tatar+2nd rounder get Shattenkirk?

I suggested similar on the Blues forum but with a pretty major change. We'd add one of our 3rd line centers, preferably Lehtera and get a premium asset instead of the 2nd.

Shattenkirk + Lehtera/Berglund
for
Tatar + Sheahan + Mantha/Svech/1st

If you guys can afford the cap, I think it works for both teams. You'd be paying a little more for Shatty, but getting a decent 3rd line center behind Neilsen and Larkin. Move Helm to the wing.

Can we really afford to be choosy with top 6 wingers? How many teams have the kind of forward surplus that Detroit does? Almost every other team will make us overpay. Detroit is out of conference and is our best chance for advantageous return for a guy we may have no choice but to trade.
