Friedman: Red Wings interested in Dylan Cozens

Anything involving Kasper, Danielson, ASP, Cossa, Augustine, Buchelnikov is a no go. That's my personal opinion. Detroit needs their prospects more than most teams coming out of the rebuild with an older roster. Youngish roster players, future picks, second tier prospects sure...but why does Buffalo want any of that?

Red Wings get: F Elias Pettersson
Sabers get: F J.T. Compher, F Vladimir Tarasenko, LHD Albert Johansson, F Marco Kasper, Red Wings 1st round pick.
Canucks get: F Dylan Cozens and G Cam Talbot.

Ugh...this again

It's not a rumour but rather EF suggesting that Cozens was the player Detroit was interested in weeks ago when he speculated that they should be..

Pass...move on and be better Elliott
 
Instead of stat watching, I'll ask:

What does Cozens do well? Is he a high motor kind of guy? Just snake bitten this season? How's his skating? Can he PK?

Obviously a career high of 68 doesn't spark much joy against his cap hit.

Agreed. There is no one for one here that makes sense. The Wings aren’t moving one of their top players in exchange for Cozens++, and I can’t begin to imagine the level of ridicule Adams would be subjected to (rightly) if he kicked the can down the road again by trading Cozens for multiple coins that he hopes equal a $. I guess either scenario is possible, it seems highly unlikely to happen though.
 
I don’t at all see a fit between these two teams. Cozens would add some nice size on the wing for Detroit so I see the fit there, but there are better trade partners for Buffalo. I don’t doubt Yzerman reached out to try and get a struggling player for cheap. My best guess would be if a deal is made it is Compher/Copp + Rasmussen for Cozens with Buffalo improving defensively at center and adding some experience to the team. More of a desperate move from a GM to shake it up, but seems unlikely and again, better options likely out there for Buffalo.

I know it’s fun/easy to bash Adams, but I’m really not convinced he’s the problem. It’s Pegula. Terry can’t help himself from meddling with the hockey team (giving input on draft picks, signings, trades—all of the hockey moves that hockey people, not Terry, should be deciding), and across 14 years and several coaches and GMs, he’s the common denominator in all the failure.

You wont move thr prospects snf you wont move thr top Detroit players, yet you think you can get Cozens,..... wTF

If Cozens were still a 68 point player his cap hit would be a steal.
 
Steve Y is a smart GM. He knows if he wants to win a cup he needs to get a piece from the Sabres that can be their Conn Smythe contender

It's hard to believe that Terry makes all the moves; he doesn't interfere with his other team like that.

It's obvious that Adams is a bad GM here. I doubt Terry told him to keep Jokiharju and not look for a top 4 RD for Power, and before that for Dahlin. Zero sense.

EP for Cozens + Talbot???? That is not going to get it done... the whole thread is about how bad Cozens is and adding a mid goalie gets you EP??? Cozens + Riemer for EP lol

I do agree a third team makes sense though

This wreaks of TP and KA dreaming up a scenario where the Sabres are active in trying to acquire Kane... Wings scout Sabres and say, yeah, we want Cozens. Put this on your radar, it is the Sabres!!!!
