One of the best prospects in the league - Habs picked the wrong Slovak
I don’t think so. If you swap Slafkovsky and Nemec on team Slovakia at this past WJC (Slafkovsky plays, Nemec doesn’t). Slovakia gets a medal. Slafkovsky can impact a game way more than NemecOne of the best prospects in the league - Habs picked the wrong Slovak
We are not sweating we know Jiricek is better. Those Jiricek posters earlier in the thread must be sweating.

I'm not even sure Slafkovsky would have as much points as Nemec if he played in AHL this season. He is a big question mark.I don’t think so. To be fair, there was some aggressive trash talking that led to it. I doubt any NJ fan is sweating anything hockey related right now.> Takes all the time to nitpick stats that make the player of his preference look better

Nemec is still a question mark too, he's not an NHL regular.I'm not even sure Slafkovsky would have as much points as Nemec if he played in AHL this season. He is a big question mark.
Lol, Im with you on this one.I'm not even sure Slafkovsky would have as much points as Nemec if he played in AHL this season. He is a big question mark.
I agree it’s likely they are both excellent NHL players and both organizations will be happy. It’s not a zero sum game. On balance the rest of the team has more impact than any one player not named McDavid. Look at the Bruins. As good as Pasta is that team is way more than the sum of its parts. Look at Ottawa or Montreal. As good as their young players are there isn’t enough support for them and the teams are struggling. Anyone looking at a prospect and acting as if the comparison to any one other prospect is defining for a team is being short sighted.Having spent too much money on the AHL package for the product, I have seen a bundle of both Cleveland (5 games for Jiricek) and Utica (9 games for Nemec) and I can say one thing with certainty - I am jealous of hell of both players.

What about Fehervary? Is he playing in the IIHF Senior Men's World Championship?
He is probably the 2nd best Slovakian Defenseman in the world after Erik Cernak.
It probably depends upon the NJ playoff run. He will play for Utica assuming they make the playoffs and I expect he becomes a black ace with NJ if they outlast Utica. Beyond that they probably leave it up to him. What about Fehervary?
But yea, our national will welcome him with open arms, should he be allowed to come
One of the things I was trying to point out in my post but maybe it didn't come through was that Nemec has barely gotten any PP time this season til recently and has put up those stats. Perhaps if he got that time since the beginning of the season like Jiricek he would be tied or maybe even better stats wise.Leaving aside the Nemec v Jiricek thing, big powerplay scoring is a good thing.
If a player is merely filling in on the PP in a substitutable way, then their PP scoring can be discounted. But if a player is actually elevating the PP, like Jiricek, then they're super valuable. You can expect Jiricek to be a #1 PPQB in the NHL, maybe a great one.

and I hope that Nemec gets the chance to show if he's either. He'd certainly have more points, if that's all folks care about. Our interest would be whether Nemec is an upgrader on the PP or just a filler. Jiricek is a potential big upgrader so his scoring there is a great sign.
