Could be waste to play them together.

They are so huge, that both can carry smaller and cheaper partner with different kind of strenghts.

Just like McDonagh and Hedman are doing at Tampa.

That's what I'm thinking. If Johansson is able to stick in the NHL as a top 4 guy that locks in the D core. Johansson with Seider and Hronek with Edvinsson. A primarily offensive dman paired with a steady two-way partner for both pairings. But when the pressure is on, send out the super pairing of Edvinsson-Seider. Life is about to get a whole lot easier for the goalie and forwards than it's been for many years.

Here’s some more plays, I’m a people pleaser

Nice what I meant to write was that some sens fans wanted to put Chabot and Sanderson together but that's the antithesis since we'd have a stud D-men for 50 min a game on each pairing.

Bit great highlights.

Both are LDs by trade. Same with Chabot and Sanderson. Even if these guys slide over to the right at times and have played there, I still think the old handedness argument comes into playing them and are they always in the best position to make the right play?

What makes this interesting for the Wings is this would be your natural handed pairing when they do team them up. I understand separating them at times at even strength for team balance, but you do have the ideal Lefty-Righty setup when the two are together. All plays can be made on their forehands.

I think the interesting thing here is what steps Tuomisto takes at Denver this year. The coaches love him there and he can be kind of a forgotten guy at times. But if he hits you basically take one of Buium and Wallinder one should hopefully hit and your top 4 is all massive trees and Tuomisto is the only guy with mobility questions though that has come a long ways, still needs a little more. You can also move Hronek for other assets in this scenario. Play Johansson in a sheltered offensive role. It might not play out that way just saying there is a reality where the entire top 4 is at least 6'3" tall, all probably playing over 220 lbs and most of them are kind of mean physically with Seider as an elite talent in that regard. Still it is a very interesting group, especially when you look at some of the better Ds in the league, the talent he collected and taking chances on seem to be the direction the big teams are going. Very impressed with how Yzerman has revamped our prospect pool and the guys he is gathering. Next up center.

He has all the tools, I think his IQ/defense issues were over blown. He'll be so damn good.

Is there any merit in comparing him as a taller Broberg (at the time of the draft)? In the sense that all the tools are there.

Trying to get a feel for Edvinsson as a prospect.

Somewhat similar players, Broberg has less of an edge to his game and doesn't use his size as well. Edvinsson also seems to have better ability to move the puck in the o-zone(he's not elite at distribution of the puck but he's more than adequate). I see Broberg more like Nurse when he was a prospect, very raw, where as Edvinsson has shown more offensive skill/upside than those other 2 did as prospects.

They have similar frames, skating and toolboxes but Broberg left me anxious everytime I watched him defend in Skelleftea. Broberg has the tools to become a really good defenseman but man can he make some boneheaded defensive plays. Edvinsson is (in my opinion) already a better player defensively than Broberg currently is, which is pretty telling.

I don't know what Edvinsson's offensive ceiling will be but he looks like he has a better grasp on how to use his tools to keep the puck moving out of his zone and up ice. I think the two areas where Broberg has Edvinsson clearly beat are straight ahead skating speed and shot. Broberg could become a legit goalscoring threat as a defenseman.

Damnit, he looks really good in that game recap. Looks to be playing within himself much more than I've seen in the past, and looks promising as a heads-up, minute-munching possession D. I am so jealous of Detroit's future on D. He looks so relaxed, curious to see if that sticks around when the games get faster.

It's bizarre when I hear this feedback, not that it's incorrect it might just be different situations and coaching, but he was super steady for his age whenever I've seen him in Edmonton preseason/the bubble playoffs.

In Skelleftea there was noticeable hesitation in his game. When to carry the puck, when to pinch, when to gap, when to play physical. And when he hesitated that's when the other team was able to take advantage of him on the ice.
