Considering his size, right-handedness and two-way ability, I would think he could go top 20 right around where Chabot went.

He's definitely very impressive, I still don't think he jumps ahead of guys like White/Boeser/Konecy/Chabot/Beauvillier who would be in that 16-20 group.

Thats fair..he would be on the cusp.

There are a few that would fall out of the top 20 and a few that would slide in.

First time seeing him live last night and was very impressed. Just watching him you would not have known that he was an undrafted player. For a 6'5 RHD, he is very poised with the puck on his stick and he isn't afraid of holding on to the puck to make a play or skate it out rather than just playing it off the boards.

Just has to fill out more and continue to refine his skating (which is good).

Free 1st rounders are nice. Got lucky....good job Hextall.

Craig Button just said the other day he would be "without a doubt" a 1st rounder this year ... crazy steal by Hextall. More a 2 way guy and right handed which a perfect compliment to guys like Ghost, Provorov and Sanheim.

He played good again tonight...+1 in a 5-2 loss.

Was the decoy on a 2-1 goal for RN.
Was only on the ice for 1 against....a 5-3 PK and it was scored by no one on his side of the ice.

Lots of nice rushes, even skated the puck out on that 5-3 PK but went offside.

Huskies looked really ugly after their first two goals. Myers didn't look too hot himself through 2 after a really solid night last night. Not bad, but too passive and playing too much defense. But his third period was...whoa. Best player on the ice imo. Just dominated in every facet and zone, especially offensively, and his minutes increased. This kid has so much potential as a 2-way player, not just a defensive d man. It felt like he just took control with and without the puck and tried to will the team back. He has so much more in him than passive, safe big man.

It's something he needs to work on. A lot of young d man with potential can often try to play a little too conservative thinking that's what they should be doing. He needs to be smart about it, but keep pushing that pace and showing those skills. Phil Myers has a lot of raw dynamism.

Looks better than Morin in my opinion. Myers just seems more in control with the puck and confident than Morin. Myers could be key on the WJC team, he has get stronger, improve his agility a bit more, practice shots, and he could be a top 4 guy for Canada.

I'm thinking Myers is like Morin with more offensive potential and better skating. Haven't seen Morin or Myers that much but that's what I've heard. Myers seems like a comparable to the Jets' Myers.

I agree with that comparison. Morin is better defensively and has a natural meanness to his game that Myers doesn't have right now.

But that is why Morin will compliment the other skill guys so well. Ghost, Myers, Sanheim can go push the pace while Morin covers them defensively. I didn't mention Provy because Morin and Provy will never play together.

But the great thing is that all of these guys can pass and skate very well. And all but Ghost have size to go with their game.

Myers is a legit prospect and Philly is lucky to have got him for free.

Maybe, but do not under-estimate Morin's skating. There's a reason he was a #11 first round pick. I would Morin is the better skater right now and faster moving in a strait line. I will agree that Myers is better offensively, but not sure the gap is as large as people assume. Morin is a bit of a project, but by the end of the AHL season he was the #1 Dman on the Phantoms. Morin is a very confident player and oozes aggressiveness and leadership ability, lets not underestimate how important that is.

Right now, Morin and Provorov are most likely to make the Flyers out of camp...and yes I realize that both of them might not make it.

Having said that, I'm very excited about Myers and it seems like the Flyers have exactly what they need on the back-end moving forward. I would not be suprised if one of our D prospects gets traded this off-season...there are just so many.

Ghost
Provorov
Sanheim
Morin
Myers
Hagg
Friedman

No reason to move them now. Their value will get much better as they get better and are NHL ready. Plus, Hagg has slowed a bit and Friedman could always stay in college and leave as a UFA. No reason to jump the gun and move them early.

Let us have too many good NHL D men first instead of just prospects.

I'm rooting for Myers all the way but he couldn't have picked a harder defense group to try and crack.

If the kid turns out good he'll make the team. Ghost and Provorov are pretty much guaranteed studs, Sanheim should be a top 4 guy as well. But after that it is pretty wide open. Gudas and Ghost might be the only guys on the current defense that will still be on the defense after this year. Myers is also a right handed 2 way guy which is a perfect compliment to the team's top 3 defense prospects. I'd prefer Myers to Morin honestly but both still have a long ways to go development wise.
