Kid has looked great in the Flyers camp this year. Hakstol has thrown him to the wolves playing the 1st or 2nd most of any Flyer in the 1st couple preseason games. The only player that might have played more is Provorov who I think Myers has outplayed thus far. Kid has gone from going undrafted to nearly a blue chip prospect in a year.

Ghost - Calder runner up

D prospect pool:

1. Provorov

2. Sanheim

3. Myers

4. Morin

5. Hagg

6. Freidman

Lookin, pretty, pretty good for the future.

In the game Wednesday against the Devils, he was the Flyers 2nd best defenceman only behind Del Zotto. I think he was better than Provorov (who had just played 30 minutes the day before) and Sanheim...and both Provorov and Sanheim looked great! This kid is the real deal. So much poise for a young kid. He will go back to jr's this year but will fight for a spot on the big club next year no doubt! Although knowing Hextall he will probably spend a half season in the AHL.

I agree he had a good game but Sam Morin had a game where if he keeps that up he makes the Flyers right out of camp. Sam was solid in all aspects of the game and he made some really nice passes out of the zone. What caught my eye about Myers was his physical play. He played with a mean streak which I did not know he had. That and with the frame he has he could easily put on a lot more weight on.
PS: Morin's stick looks like a tree trunk its so big.

^^^^ It's funny, I thought Myers looked the best of the kids that night. Yet Morin did too. And Sanheim was named 3rd star. And Provy was steady but did look tired after playing 29 minutes the night before.

Not so much funny as Philly just has a crazy good pool of defensemen, will be really interesting to see what they grow into.

And no one talks about Friedman, who was named to WCHA's season ending all star team....so top 2 Dmen in the conference.

I am just happy that Myers is proving that last year in the Q was not a fluke. He is a legit D prospect. Team Canada better be watching him in pre-season. If so, he should be a lock.

And I know he went undrafted, but having a draft/summer where you add Provy, Konecny and Myers is fantastic. Look forward to seeing what he does in the Q this year.

How does Morin looks ?

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Morin make the big club for the opener. He's been our most under-the-radar guy.

I think he starts in the AHL for sure just due to the amount of bodies there are. But I expect at some point, for someone to be traded or get hurt and be brought up. Sort of like Ghost last year. I think he could replace AMac, Manning or Shultz right now, but if Provy is making the team, I think Hextall keeps the vets around longer.

I think between Jan 1 and the deadline, Morin is called up.

I can't see Morin getting called up if our lineup looks like:

Del Zotto
Gudas
Provorov
Gostisbehere
Manning
Streit
(Schultz, MacDonald)

There would have to be injuries, suspensions, trades, etc. They will happily allow Morin to develop in the AHL if we have no need.

I think Philly will be looking to trade Schultz and Streit thru the season as they are UFA's....much like they traded Schenn last year. This is still a transition year and adding more picks is always good especially when you can replace them with someone from within who is just as good.

But this thread is about Myers. In 6 games, he has 4 points and is +7. He even has 2 short handed goals. Also has 25 shots so he is creating lots if scoring chances.

It's safe to say that last year was not a fluke. The Flyers got a steal with him. Thank God the Flames did not sign him after having him in their camp. Their lose do our gain.

He was just diagnosed with a concussion, bad news , he's looked really good so far this year

Huskies seem to be very, very cautious with head injuries. Strange that four of their players have been diagnosed with a concussion in the last week. Myers has looked great, picked up where he left off last year.

Extra cautious is good. Too many kids will try to soldier through when they should be shut down for awhile.

11 points in 12 games played, +9. In his last game he scored two goals, both of which were amazing shots. So excited for this kid. Next fall Hexy and Hak will have to think hard about sending him to the AHL, but ultimately that will probably happen for at least a couple months.

Looks like 29 other GM's are going to be wondering how he went undrafted.

How does a 6'3, 200+ pound RHD go undrafted???
