Can't believe Hextall snagged him for free.

First Myers for nothing. Then added Lyons for free. Now let's hope he adds a FA college forward this Spring.

:)

Oh...and he was named to the 1st All Star team in the Q this year as well.

I hadn't focused on him while watching the Huskies in the past, but after all this hype I really wanted to watch him closely. His size and skating are amazing. One small critique is that his coordination isn't there yet, but when your that big sometimes it takes time. I'm shocked he didn't get drafted.

The Flyers prospect pool on D is amazing. All lefties though, but I'm sure Flyers fans are fretting it.

To be fair last year he was not allowed to rush the puck, often he would rush the puck to red line and dump it in. The Huskies viewed him more as a defensive d-men but this year with a new D-coach he was allowed more freedom to make play with the puck and more PP time. IMO he was the most improve player in the league this season, tremendous progression. With that size and skating ability the flyers got a good one. I thought last year he had a chance to be a late pick but he didn't wow me in any of my viewings like he did this year. Funny thing he was a guy i really like in his midget Q draft year ,i remember his gold cup tournament in May of 2013 where he was a standout for New Brunswick. He was doing it all back then (offense/defense/physical) but back then his footwork was an issue with Q scouts... they have come a long way since then.

Myers is probably going to finish ahead of Hagg in our July prospect polls. Ghost will have graduated, so my prediction is:

Provorov - LHD
Sanheim - LHD
Morin - LHD
Myers - RHD
Hagg - LHD
Friedman - RHD
Willcox - RHD
Marti - LHD

Leading his team to the finals seems impressive. His production looks great.

Anyone actually been watching? Is he dominating or what?

I've watched 4 of the more recent playoff games, including tonight's. Myers looks really, really good. He's definitely there lead horse on the blue line.

For someone 6'5, he can be shockingly smooth. He pretty much can do everything. A very well rounded player. I think he's the real deal. If he wouldn't have signed as an undrafted free agent last summer, there would be massive buzz about him right now as a draft eligible.

Good to hear that, totally a steal by Hexy. And being right handed, it's more amazing.

So what's his roof then? We talking Sanheim level or a little below that?

Sanheim's offense is far, far superior to Myers. Which isn't a knock on Myers. Sanheim is magic with the puck. Myers definitely has good puck skills, though.

Myers is more physical. They are different players, but both are big, smooth skating kids with upside.

He's definitely stepped up with Lauzon out.

I wonder if he would have quite had this season if he hadn't been signed. I think a vote of confidence like that is just so huge for a kid, especially when they went undrafted.

Almost sounds like Myers is sort've a right handed Sanheim/Morin hybrid in that he is big and can skate really well like both of them, however he plays more of a balanced, two-way game, rather than dominating more clearly on one side of the puck (not to short change Sanheim's defense, nor Morin's offense, both of which are also relatively solid).

I think Myers has at least second pairing potential, for sure... who knows how far he will end up progressing, though.

All I know is that it will be really fun to see how everything plays out this offseason with all of the talent on the backend, even despite the forward pipeline being more likely to be at the forefront of Hextall's plans.

He would probably be a solid 2nd rounder in this years draft with a chance to sneak in late 1st. Not too many CHL dmen with his all around package at his size.

just finished watched huskies take 3-0 series lead over the shawinigan cats...myers was great. again. just has everything you could ask for in a big lanky rangy dman...

on top of his skating, shot and smarts, he just shuts down every puck carrier one-on-one. other teams forward seems to be in dangerous position, myers uses his speed and length and he just wraps them up or strips them every single time. easily.

key player on power play too, great offensive skills. just so pumped that flyers got this player.

Thanks for this awesome update.

This kid is gonna be a legendary Flyer I can smell it air down here. His 2-way game and bomb from the point are gonna fit right in, especially since hes our only RHD.

If he keeps progressing you could see him being a good fit with every dman we currently have apart from Gudas.

Exactly. Guys like this fit on every team in the world.

Look at the teams still playing right now, Pit and Dallas being the exception as they are so offensive minded, but STL SJS NASH, WASH, TB are rolling out LARGE humans on defense. Point being, 6'5" Dmen only become more valuable in the spring time when every inch of ice is at a premium.

This is so true. Look at how dominating Hedman, Pietrangelo and Burns can be. Big guys who are great skaters, can handle and shoot the puck, and play a physical game on D.

The Flyers will end up having several of them: Sanheim, Morin and Myers are huge, and Gudas, DelZotto, Provorov and Hagg are solidly built if not tall. Ghost, well, he's just elusive....
