I see the Coyotes have some amateur writers who are trying to set up a redemption arc except without any actual redeeming behaviour. Rookie mistake.

So...any scouting reports or is this just talking about his past mistakes and personal issues?

Well, he was passed over numerous times by 30 teams in a league that still tolerates Anthony DeAngelo, so while he's a top tier asshole his other skills must need some work.

If all of this stuff never happened he was probably a late first/early second round pick. He is a legit player

His baggage is way way way more than anything someone like DeAngelo or Merkely had. I really think the Coyotes may have been the only team that had him on their DND lists

here is the problem with society now. We don't want to give 2nd chances to people who screw up. We want to crucify them and brandish them for the rest of their lives and make them suffer daily. What he did was wrong there is no denying that. Shouldn't the goal of society to help these individuals see the wrong and help them become better people.

That is not how society works anymore. Even groups like this Hockey Diverse Alliance are condemning this kid. So they preach acceptance and tolerance but can't show it towards another human who has screwed up. This is today's society preach about tolerance and shout it on social media but never practice what you preach. Virtue Signalling at it's finest.

Why not take this kid and make him a poster boy for change and being able to learn from your mistakes and become a person who makes a difference in lives

I wonder why the hockey diversity alliance wouldn't be supportive of a kid who physically and mentally abused a black kid, and called him racial slurs, who has shown no interest in redeeming himself or showing remorse in the last 4 years. Real head scratcher why they don't make him their poster boy. Whining that not tolerating Miller's kind of screwed up behavior is "not tolerant" of certain people and therefore hypocritical of those people is a logical fallacy btw.

The fact that they had no choice before position 111 may explain that it was the Coyotes who took him.

I think if he had been available in round 5 and more after that other teams would have taken him.

Without this story, he would have been selected much higher.

He could have been unselected and that wouldn't have changed anything. But if he has a great career in NCAA or in Europe, he would necessarily have been hired in NHL at 22/23 years old.

So you might as well select him and frame him now.

Miller doesn’t actually give a f*** about what he did. There is zero remorseZ That’s why you don’t go making him a poster boy or whatever the f*** it is you’re suggesting

Sorry... Problem is not 2nd change.

Millers 2nd change was right after the trial, when he could've and should've apologize face to face from the victim.

The other abuser did, and it was accepted and welcomed.
Miller didn't and didn't care.

I'd say he's 3rd change was this year before he sent those calculated PR letters to all NHL teams... I'd would have been so easy to atleast finally personally to apologize he's victim.

But No... Miller didn't care.

I must say that it's odd that Millers family hasn't make him apologize also.

But yeah... We are talking about 4th change... Not 2nd.

There are some things you can be forgiven for.
In my mind, this kind of psychopathic treatment of another person is not forgivable, especially since he apparently hasn't even apologized to the victim.

He’s a piece of shit who has shown zero remorse for torturing a developmentally challenged child for half a decade or longer.

This is the correct answer.

Don't tell me he didn't know what he was doing was wrong. He preyed on this kid for years.

Most of the time you say "you're sorry cause you got caught", but this kid ain't even sorry he got caught. f***'em.

He’s a piece of shit who has shown zero remorse for torturing a developmentally challenged child for half a decade or longer. There was physical violence and emotional violence. This includes the piss covered pushpop that he made the poor child eat. The lengths you’re going to just sweep this under the rug so to speak are embarrassing. You’re the type who was probably defending all the kids at st. Mikes who were doing all those awful things like Sodomizing a classmate with a broom handle all while filming it.

He doesn’t deserve the privilege of even having the opportunity to play pro hockey. He should be blacklisted. He can go work a regular 9-5 like most of us.

Sir,

You are neither in line with your previous remarks, nor with the perception of justice for minors, nor with the values that you claimed to defend while disrespecting me.

So how can you talk about tolerance if you or these groups don't practice it themselves? No one knew this kid before this draft thing.
My whole point is those you preach tolerance or inclusion lots of the time they lack those qualities themselves when it comes to others who are like Miller.

do you know this kid personally? Have you heard about this kid before this whole thing came to light? Have you asked him or anyone he is involved with currently like UND. I haven't seen the clips where he is still laughing about it and still being the way he is. I assume if his behavior was still the same and still doing the same things North Dakota would have thrown him off their hockey team.

I actually know 2 kids on UND well their parents. I should ask them how this kid is behaving now

for sure if that is the case and those things are happening that speaks to more than just his behaviour that is a family issues on how they raise their kids. IF this hasn't happened how does he get a full ride to North Dakota. Do they not hold players accountable for actions or did they sweep it all under the rug.

Here is the problem with you now. Your idea of a 2nd chance is limited to the ability to make millions of dollars playing a professional sport after getting a free ride through college.

Suffer daily??? Get the f*** out of here. Hockey is a rich man's sport. I'm sure his family has money. He can still have plenty of opportunities in his life after buying an education just like the rest of us have to do. Now compare that to the victim who is very likely scarred for life after years & years of mental and physical abuse.

Speaking in generalities and not making excuses

Colleges and Pro teams are under pressure to win.

One of the most famous cases of this was a NFL running back named Lawrence Phillips

After he was already cut from the Rams and Dolphins for attitude and criminal problems.

The 49ers paid the price for this when Phillips missed a block and the hit was delivered that ended Steve Young's career.

Even after that Phillips still played in the Arena league, then Canadian League

Even after this incident, teams still make the same mistake and don't learn. Winning is apparently everything

tolerating Millers kind of intolerant behaviour would be counterproductive in seeking tolerance in general, because it would functionally enable intolerance (by accepting Millers abusive behaviour as ok). Accepting and tolerating the mental and physical abusive behaviour of Miller would be antithetical to moving toward inclusion because said behaviour expressly fosters exclusion and harm toward others (and your line of thinking more or less erases the victim from the equation). Hence your argument being a logical fallacy.

After following the story for days, the sad truth about Miller is a sentiment that taking 100% ownership and being fully remorseful hasn't happened. I like the idea of growth after mistakes and in this case I do not think it has occured..

This is stupid, they were well aware of his situation when they drafted him. Clearly they felt comfortable with having him in the organization, so why renounce him now? Waste of a pick.
