Wait let me get this straight... you say "that's far from everyone" refusing to name anymore players (yet you'd expect it to be easy since you said "Far from everyone" then proceed to ask me for specific players... oh then you add the word "amazing".... twisting my words. Haha everytime I get into a discussion with you it's the same straw man technique.

So you say amazing? Are you saying Spezza and Tavares are amazing leaders? Can you define amazing leaders for me?

Matthews, Reilly and Marner are leaders. Great young players that play hard every night.
Tavares, Foligno, Thornton, Spezza, Muzzin, BOGO, Simmonds are flat out awesome veteran leaders.

this team is very deep with experience and leaders.

With Sandman emerging, I can see them moving Rielly or leaving Muzzin exposed in the expansion draft.

Muzzin/Rielly Brodie
Sandman Lily/Holl
Dermott Bogo

So many options for Dubas this offseason.
In what world would you think there is even a minimal chance that Muzzin is left exposed? I don't think there is anything the Leafs could do roster wise that would change that.

Unfortunately missed last night's game. 5 decades of hockey and I think that's the first time I have seen that type of hit. Huh. Impact was impressive!

Sandin does need some work on his defensive zone game, and he seems to whiff on the odd pass. But, his overall game is very solid, loved the Wheeler hit, the stretch pass that lead to the Tavares goal (as good as Reilly’s passes), and PP play. Given some time and continued coaching, I have no doubt that he’ll be a very important player for us soon.

Nah.

It'll be 34, 16, 91, 88 + 44, 8, 3, 78.

Seattle will pick between Kerfoot and Dermott. Either is an acceptable loss. Kerfoot because it opens up more cap space, Dermott because of depth on the left side.

As somebody that deflects all blame onto himself, deserved or not, he said that he should have added even more. That is not even remotely close to the same thing as "gutting our team" of it, as was falsely suggested.

The funny thing is, if you look past that sentence in the article that you cherry-picked, Dubas specifically mentions the leadership that Spezza and Muzzin (two of the players I mentioned, that Dubas brought in in earlier years) have provided.

Dubas felt there was a weakness in the roster construction in terms of maturity and leadership and aggressively addressed it. While you seem to want to say it was never a problem at all. Dubas' statements and actions clearly do not align with how you're interpreting things.

He's ready.

I think the plan is to move Dermott to the right side and we'll see that Dermott/Sandin pairing together next year with Bogo gone.

In the short term, I think Sandin could knock Dermott out of the lineup and pair with Bogo on the bottom pairing.

I won't be surprised if we throw a pick their way to pursuade them a specific way.

Dubas felt that experience and leadership could be improved even further on this young team, even though he had already added many such pieces to the Leafs since he had arrived. So that's what he did, extremely fast and creatively. Nowhere did I say that "it was never a problem"; I merely corrected that individual's clearly false statement claiming that he "gut" the team of leadership and experience.

Dubas' statements and actions do very much align with how I'm interpreting things. As I already showed you in that article, following the specific line you cherry picked and misrepresented, Dubas specifically mentions two of the previously acquired players I highlighted, as important and valuable leaders in the room. Nobody has been able to provide these supposed leaders that were "gutted" from the team.

In the cap world it would be possible but I believe Muzz must be protected because he has a NTC.

Tend to agree, but personally I keep the higher ceiling Dermott who can play both sides. I would expose Holl and hope they select Kerfoot.

This kid is going to be special. He thinks the game at a very high level already. Not sure there is a single guy on the back end who can see a play develop better than Rasmus TBH. His offensive instincts are exceptional. When he is on the ice with top tier talent like Mitch and Auston there is a very good chance that a HDCF is going to happen. He jumps in the play at the right times, can make really deceptive moves to shake defenders, he see's passing lanes open a split second before they are actually open and has the skill to dish it in that window. This is our future #1 no doubt. Some of the things he is doing right now are flat out special. The Leaf future is VERY VERY bright.

It's not the first time Sandin has done that type of hit. I remember him laying out a Detroit player (Glendening?) like that in one of his first games with the big team.

I tend to agree that Dermott should have more upside than Holl.

Holl has excelled at times, but has struggled more recently. I’m not sure if there is a nagging injury, or just hit a ceiling and is being asked to do more than he is capable of. But his defence on McDavid earlier in the year was great.

Progress isn’t linear, and I’d suggest Dermott hasn’t had the best year In Progressing his game. But if he can continue to improve and that upside is there, fully agree with your suggestion.

Holl can be slightly maddening to watch. He clearly has the skillset to be every effective but he has no hockey IQ. It's funny how he seems to have McDavid's number, and both this year and last he's put together 10-15 game stretches of incredible defensive hockey, but his decision making can be incredibly infuriating

I think Sandin and Muzzin could be a good pair come playoffs
Reilly Brodie
Muzzin Sandin
Bogosian Holl
Dermott/Hutton

I remember one poster on here specifically saying Sandin was too small to play and Dubas doesn't know how to draft. Wonder what he has to say now?
I also remember a certain poster who claimed that we destroyed Sandin's development, because not instantly banning him from the playoffs when Covid struck supposedly meant that he could never put on weight, and he would be doomed as a weakling until the end of time.

Looks pretty strong to me. :boredom:
