Risto just had a great game, oh well, sometimes players like to screw with fans.

Hes got the skating and the passing...just not the IQ.

I agree physical play gets overrated in this town...but I do think it matters in the playoffs. Even if Risto is a shitty D, as an opposing forward it is going to wear you down over a series constantly being hit and whacked by an opposing Dman (and I mean REAL hits, not hagg hits). The Flyers could use that element vs teams like the Islanders.

I was hoping he could at least be that guy and keep his negatives to a minimum...but so far no dice.
How many real hits have we seen from him? I would say 1 or two. But havent looked all games. In my eyes he is playing like Haag when it comes to hits. I dont see impact hits from him. But he tried to, and takes.himself out of position. Out of the zone passing is horrible, under pressure he is worse than Mandog or Haag !

Though he did struggle against TB, but so did most of the team.
Like most players, you have to be patient enough to see what happens, of course, many love to jump to conclusions before it happens.

Sanhero did miss a chance to win the game, like I've pointed out, finishing has not been a strong point for him.
Looks great from blue line to blue line.

You know who can finish. gHosTiSbEHeRe. But he was too bad for our team. Risto cant finish and he cant create passes. He even cant defend most of the time. Who you would rather have?

What is funny is...

Risto has been really good past the red-line. It is where his good play so far has been driven by.

But in his own zone? Only Yandle has allowed more chances amongst regular D.

Dont get me wrong, if he keeps playing like has over full season so far? Fine with him as a 2nd pairing Dman.

But it is his NZ play and OZ ability so far that is making him look good. His DZ play has been poor in general and Hart has bailed him out a lot.

Right but the Flyers arent going to out skill or skate anyone either. I dont want them chasing hits, but I do think they need an edge to their game and Risto could play into that. The Flyers had no business beating the Pens in 2012, but they got under their skin and the superior team imploded. A guy like Hartnell could use physicality to the teams advantage.

If Ristos going to be here...i want him manhandling guys in front of the net. The guy is massive and strong af...I dont get why he doesnt embrace it and play that style. I wish Pronger was around to coach him up.

Using the highest scoring series in like 25+ years as an example of how to beat a more skilled team with toughness and grit is a weird take. Sure the Flyers got under the Pens skin and it was a chippy series but there was a lot of talent on that Flyers team. There wasn't even a really chippy game until game 3 from what I remember and the Flyers won the first two games in barn burners. And there weren't even a lot of guys known for playing with an edge on that roster. The biggest factor in that series was MAF melting down into a puddle that couldn't even remember what sport he was playing.

San-Ris is doing pretty damn well as a brand new pairing considering the extra minutes they are taking on with Ellis injured, and the 3rd pairing being sheltered like a lost puppy.

Sanheim is getting more ES TOI than Provorov.
