I cant wait to hear the fans of team leftover chanting there countries name from the stands.

"Lets go team Germany, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lativa, Switzerland, Norway, and Austria."

If anybody buys a ticket to see this nonsense, I am going to slap them.

One super team in world class. Europe All Star would go to semifinal if quarters vs Czech or U23 team. Five teams have chanches to win tournament with Finland and USA two last teams. Plus Russia/Canada/Sweden. Not belief Europe All Star will win even they are top ranked by me ranking system. Maximum semi.

How great would it be to have team leftover vs team U-23 in the finals.

If team leftover wins the world cup, which country do they fly back to for the celebration.

Which under-23 player wants to score the goal to knock out team canada or team USA in the world cup.

WORST IDEA EVER!!!

 It's so funny because this **** is actually happening.

This ranks:

1.Canada
2.Sweden
3.USA
4.Russia
5.Finland
6.Europe
7.North America
8.Czech Republic

People underestimating Czech. I believe with a good coach they will make a success.

1.Canada - The best team of the world
2.Sweden - Umm...the second best team of the world?
3.USA - Nothing to say here.
4.Russia - Maybe Bettman could invite Putin to play as well, to score some goals, right? In all seriousness though, Russia have always star team but they usually fail. Could learn from Finns about team play.
5.Czech rep. - Hey I have to believe them right.
6.Finland - They never have a ''really'' good team, no real offensive threat or great Dmen, but they have fantastic goalies and the most important thing - They play as a real team.
7.Mcdavid squad (U23) - Might surprise us
8.Kopitar squad (Rest of Europe) - Go Slovakswisslatvianaustriansloveniandenmark ! Make the rest of us proud !

But still, this tourney is joke. It means nothing. Even if by a miracle Czech republic won, they wouldn't be considered the best hockey nation, I wouldn't consider them as the top neither.
The best hockey nation is Canada and so will they stay until 2018, the next Olympics.
(Assuming Bettman allows top players to play there)

1. Canada
2. sweden
3. Usa
4. Russia
5. Finland
6. europe
7. Czech Republic
8. North America Under 23s.

^^ THIS on the small ice. ^^ Big ice and the U.S. drops to 5 - the rest stay the same.

Team USA on the big ice at the olympics was dominant against every team except for Russia/Canada. They then unfortunately had their worst game of the tournament against Finland at the end. USA is medal contenders on any ice size.

1. Canada
2. sweden
3. Usa
4. Russia
5. Finland
6. europe
7. Czech Republic
8. North America Under 23s.

Having a rest or Europe team is pretty dumb and Bettman like but the under 23's is going to be extremely interesting IMO.

After Canada as the clear #1 and sweden as the #2 and USA at 3 it's a bit of a crapshoot and the under 23's could really surprise.

The Czech republic is probably going to be the weakest team on paper along with Finalnd.

I still believe, on the Big Ice, they are not as good as Sweden, Russia would finally get some revenge and they would lose to the European All Stars. That places them at #5 on my list.

The NA u23 is so tough to rank. Elite talent, but the lack of experience how much does that effect a teams play? I guess the defence would be the weakest link. Good team defense usually need experience.

Canada will most likely win, 2nd will be the team that cares the most.

Or Sweden or USA or Russia if old communist state Russia will suprise next year.

Just like me top teams.

Kopitar seems pretty excited to have a legit shot to compete. Not sure how many of the other European all stars feel. Although I can imagine the Slovaks being upset.

European team is good but they lose against Russia but 10 procent chanches for Russia to win World Cup 2016.

This ranks:

Canada - 40%
Sweden - 30%
USA - 20%
Russia - 10%
Other - noll

''Other - noll'' Seriously? :help:
Every team has a chance of success. In semifinals there will be at least one team from ''other''.

On the small ice...

Canada has an 75% chance of being in the Gold Medal Game.
The U.S. has a 40% chance of being in the Gold Medal Game.

What are you basing those two answers on ?

There has been 3 Best on Best Torunaments on International Sized Ice since 1995 (2002 was a hybrid).

The U.S. finished 6th in 1998, 8th in 2006 and 4th in 2014. Based on those results, 5th is more than fair.

Now, based on my answer, I know SDB/someone will say...

Canada finished 5th in 1998, 7th in 2006 and 1st in 2014. Based on those results, ___ is more than fair.

To that, I will reply, "Okay" with a :) because you are entitled to your opinion.

Maximum one team from other teams. Maybe one in final to.

Maybe Finland or Czechs.

But no winning chanches for them.

:D

I think the US will have a pretty good team. They are clearly the TOP4 nation and the small-ice factor obviously helps too. I can't see anyone besides Canada ahead of them. Their goaltending is strong, their defence is strong and they have better bottom-six than Sweden, and maybe even the top-six, with players like Kane, Kessel, or Pacioretty.

I don't know how the small ice would be a factor considering that 100% of Sweden's roster and 80-90 % of the other teams' rosters will come from the NHL. I can see it affecting Russia as they usually go with a lot of KHL:ers.

WC will at least set the bar how to compare elite young players to elite older ones. I mean, does the experience really matters or elite talent is enough?
That being said normal NT will destroy them if motivated enough, especially such stucked teams. I know how Slovak U20 NT is performing in the highest level of domestic league and U23 will not be much different, no matter of talent.

I don't think the defense will be that much of a weakness. The top 5 (Jones, D.Hamilton, Trouba, Ekblad, Rielly) is very solid, especially if they make another progress this season. Where I see a weak spot is goaltending. At least for now. But hey, there is always a good chance that some goalie gets hot (Halak is a great example) and suddenly it's no longer a weak spot. The same can happen here.

I don't know. I rather think, at first maybe, but when the time comes, they will want to prove something. That is my guess.
