So who plays with Doughty currently? Forbort? Muzzin is also a LD. My point is, how many LD’s would they want
I mean if you're doing that then Vilardi, Klague, and their 1st all have to be on the table. That'd be tough for them to swallow.

Oh without a doubt. But adding a #1 dmen and a top line forward, both who have playoff experience and are considered leaders is a huge add for any legit contender. Especially if we retain the max. Combined, it’ll be about a 4.6 cap hit. 2 runs.
Am i insane for thinking I’d want something added to that package?
Rangers should start making moves sooner than later. Quality assets available are limited
If quality assets are limited, and the Rangers are a team who has such assets, wouldn't the price rise as they become more limited?
I would assume that any asset gotten back would have to be prospects or "near ready" players. Anyone who thinks they can contend, and looking to strengthen their team is not likely to get rid of quality players in a trade. Unless there are special circumstances (player wanting out, etc).If you are proposing eating salary, I assume you want prospects in return from LA.

pretty sure he meant assets that we can get back
Not necessarily, it depends on how many buyers are out there for certain types of players. Remember Talbot lost a lot of his value after Lehner and Jones were traded
McDonagh played the right side very effectively in the Olympics. Babcock saw that first hand.

It was probably the best hockey I’ve seen from him too. Probably not because he was playing his off-side. He was a beast in the Olympics though.
Can't even imagine us being without McD all these years and at his discounted price. Speaking of Price, imagine what Montreal would've been had they had McD with Subban/Weber and Price all those same years. Rangers/Canadians would've been flip flopped many seasons.Yes, all they are going to get out of McDonagh is 600-something games and a monster trade package.
You're not the only one, but am I the "only one" seeing somewhat of a decline? He makes some bonehead plays (just like any other dman will) but if we can get a great exchange for him (like that Trouba+ deal and a pick.......I would do it. What good is he doing us now? He will decline somewhat and stuck with a large contract and still NO CUP. Sorry Hank. Do it off season at the very least.I do like that. But what young NHL talent is stepping in for McDonagh?
Worst defensive team in the league as it is trading their best defenseman. Am I seriously the only one who sees the problem there?
I just knew you would offer to that again. Sorry, don't want u to do some thing stupid, nor do I want a fragile Karlsson. We don't NEED a supposed superstar on defense, they get injured. Not to mention his humongous paycheck.Tell you what, if this actually leads to us signing Erik Karlsson, I'll do something stupid on YouTube again.
I was waaaay ahead of that curve and decision. Never advocated he being our Capt. Too soft spoken and to this day, still sounds like a Tortorella replica. Sentences ending in "here" for eg. I thought it would have better served if it was Kreider as he might have "ran" with it and become an instant force EVERY GAME due to leadership responsibilities. You know, becoming what we wanted out of Krieds.I am 100% ok with everything written in that article coming true. Brooks is spot on about McDonagh. The weight of the C crushed him. He wasn't ready. It should have gone to Girardi. Girardi would have been the perfect Captain for that team at that point of his career. I will miss Zucc. What becomes of Lundqvist?
What if we traded the bad players people thought were good instead of the good players that people think are bad?
Oh, and fire the coach.
Right. I just think the whole thing is backwards. They should trade both, and bad players will not fetch the return the good players will. I mean it's a pretty small minority of people who think Vesey/Miller are good and Zucc/McD are bad. As much as I hate AV and wanted him gone 2 seasons ago I'm not convinced that simply firing him, holding on to McD and Zucc, and hoping Henrik stays hot enough to make another run is the right play. If they were going to go this road they should have not traded Stepan and fired AV instead, then retooled. That ship has sailed, in my opinion. They have one of the best goaltending prospects in the world, and two very strong center prospects. Right now they need a surefire top pairing D prospect, Skjei is not a 1D, and ADA probably isn't either. Minus the fact they'll probably keep Vesey and Miller around, I think they have a good chance to build a new solid core rather than trying to prop up the good players we have left and hope a new coach magically fixes everything. Hoping they trade Vesey and Miller is just unrealistic.
In the words of the great Tortorella; "safe is DEATH"! It can be applied here as well. This is true and I don't think anyone necessarily disagrees with this.
But teams in the Rangers position right now who don't try and do something different fail 100% of the time. Moving all of these guys may result in further trouble, but it may not. Hanging onto them however is only going to prolong the mediocrity.
This team isn't a contender and you can't expect anything to change with out taking a different approach. The team and FO should be lauded for what they built between 2011-12 and last year, but its time to move on and at least attempt to build a group that can actually win it all.
