Can someone post the "Friendship ended with Strome...now Copp is my best friend" meme for Panarin? I would if I were any good at photoshop.
Totally unrelated to hockey: Props to the Slowdive picture. Slowdive was my original tag on these boards!

Seriously though, I hope we see them together for good. Copp has just enough grit to back opponents up and the hands to finish. Really like what we're seeing from him so far.

Although they have a fair amount of games in April, the Rangers are going to spend all of two nights in hotels.

Getting through all those early road games will now be a huge boost as they get to stay home for basically the entire month.
Do they need to spend a night in Philly?

I can’t wait to see the expected goals from this game.

I lobbied hard for a Copp trade and so far he is better than I expected. Really good zone entries and exits. Quality faceoff guy.

Let’s just give Strome a few more games off to get well. We’ll be fine.
Copp is excellent at carrying the puck through the NZ and entering the zone with possession. He adds a different element to the lines with his instincts, he's able to turn transitions into offensive zone possessions where a guy like Strome might double back or make a failed pass entry attempt. It's a nice diversification in style that Copp brings.

very impressive to pull that out in a game georgiev did everything possible to lost. that was an incredible performance. so bad it was funny bad. hes gotta go now. his misery deflates the team even more than the muffins that roll through him on the ice. kinkaid would at least give us consistent average play and is a positive personality the team rallies around. with georgiev its like gallant giving them an obstacle course to make wins more challenging. maybe it pays off having all this experience being in situations we need a goal? trying to find any silver lining to him still being on this team

best laf has ever looked on the puck. beating guys one on one, getting to the middle of the ice and being decisive taking the shot, hes got a lethal release..just missed a couple. keep that coming plz. was dangling, someone on the internet needs to gif him breaking that guys ankles...looked like datsyuk on couture. and then he showed his leadership trying to handle the georgiev issue himself. captain sht

other than that solid job all around pulling out the last of 3 in 4 on a b2b against a team coming off getting blasted with an 11 spot and playing without a goalie

God I hate that about Strome, he's bad in the neutral zone and he never pushes the play down towards the net. Like the Schneider goal last night probably doesn't happen with Strome because Copp carried it across the line, dished to Panarin, but then kept going to the net which pulled the whole Pens defense towards the net too, giving Panarin more space, and opening up the ice for Schneider to jump in.

That's why people talk about playing north/south hockey and going to the net. It opens up other parts of the ice rather than just playing East/West.

You can't just do one or the other, you need to mix both, and Strome with Panarin is bad about playing North/South

I thought Reaves, for as bad and awful as he was yesterday, was actually pretty effective tonight.

Should 100% draw out of the lineup along with McKegg when everyone is healthy, but credit to him for not completely sucking tonight. That mantle was carried by McKegg.
McKegg still being in the lineup at this point is an all time finesse by him. You just can't get rid of him. He's a true cockroach's cockroach.

Yup, agree completely. I really think a huge contributing factor, probably the main one, to our team's poor possession and shot metrics is because our 2C plays the way Strome does.

If McKegg completely sucked what would you call Giorgi's performance. 3 of 4 goals were totally soft

Abhorrent. I don't think any of the goals against were particularly good. 1 and 2 can never go in and 3 is an easy save if he isn't swimming across the Pacific when the puck was shot towards the Atlantic.

The last one was... The toughest of them all but he was actually in position to stop it, it just somehow leaked through him as pucks tend to do when hes playing.

Someone called him Fourgiev and it was the most fitting nickname Ive ever seen here.

Pure, absolute domination in the 5v5 metrics. We all know the only reason it was close.

Way to battle back and get 2 points.

Can't believe the season Kreider is having, really special.

Also special is how good Miller-Trouba is right now. 12 scoring chances for, 3/4 against at 5v5. Ludicrous stuff from them right now.

Laf and Chytil have been shooting some laser wristers but they're not hitting the net. Get these two some shooting practice because they could do some major damage with those shots. Add in a Kakko on the right side of Chytil who lets Kakko play his type of game and that could be a great third line if GG plays them.

Laf and Chytil have been two of our best players and they're on our third line. What a difference not having all AHL scrubs and having our two young guys play effectively makes. This team may not be the top contender but IMHO they're still EASILY a contender. It's no longer Igor and a handful of superstars.

Laf's wrist shot is a cannon. He'll start hitting the net with it and once he does he's really going to be piling on the goals/points.

Reaves at least serves a purpose. He can play his role.

McKegg brings absolutely nothing to the table

It seems like mckegg was getting a lot of effective time on the pk. When Rooney is healthy, no chance mckegg plays with mika, kreider, copp, motte, and Rooney all able to handle the pk
