17 games in 35 days was an advantage the 1st 2 games of these series and now it’s catching up to us

I think it was always going to. It's not an excuse, but we've suddenly put a lot of games into a lot of relatively young bodies. We just played out 100th game this season, after 2 interrupted years

Fox: 125 games prior to this season/96 this season
KK: 114 games prior to this season/61 this season with injuries
Laf: 56 games prior to this season/98 this season
Lindgren: 116 games prior to this season/92 this season and really banged up
KAM: 53 games before this season/100 games this season

That's a lot to absorb, and while the flip side is that TBL have played a lot over the same stretch, their roster is at at the point where they're hardened and used to it.
the question now is whether those young guys have another level, or are the totally spent?

It never is good to piss away the advantage you've worked for, but I would certainly have taken a 2-2 series before this whole thing started.

The injuries are the primary concern now in terms of trying to come away with a best of 3.

Would you feel better at 2-2 if they went down 0-2 first and came back, or went up 2-0 and lost two in a row?

Feels worse this way. They had Game 3 and let it get away and bring up 3-0 would have been HUGE.

We have no chance without Strome and Chytil.
A significant blow, yes, but I don't buy it for a minute.

If Gallant puts the right players in that have been sitting in the right places to bring balance and some more speed to the lineup, especially with home ice, it's not foregone that this is over in 6.

Wait a minute......

BAH GAWD, THAT'S SAMMY BLAIS' MUSIC....

If Braun won’t take the body then Murphy might as well play Zac (Max) Jones.

Braun? Everyone on defense was scared to take the body!

Look at that second goal. Puck is in Miller's skates, with not one but two Bolt players around him.

...Tries to half-assedly poke check it away.

The only hit that was meaningful came from McD almost sending Laf to the afterlife.

Tampa top players are killing us. We have no chance until we stop letting Kucherov and Stamkos get open looks.
That's been the crux of the last two games. Their big guns have been outplaying ours. Who scored Sunday? Kucherov, Stamkos, and Palat. Who scored tonight? Maroon (outlier), Kucherov, Stamkos, and Palat.

Time to swing the pendulum back towards Kreider, Zibanejad, and Fox.

I always wondered when playing all these high intensity games every other night was going to take it's toll. You can add Schneider, Shesty, and Chytil to that list also. Just a lot of hockey and maybe a reason why younger teams can't finish the deal. Even if they manage to get by Tampa I just can't see them beating a rested Avs team.

The play in our zone is starting to resemble the Pittsburgh series, where we're not picking up their cutters into lanes and slots and we're a step slow when the puck goes back high to the points. Their neutral zone trap and blue line stack are also a problem. The worry is that while you can match lines at home, a trap and clogging the zone are portable. TB will play the same game at MSG. How does Gallant break the trap? Our players do not adjust well. Score that first goal with urgency and the attitude that you're already down 1-0 at puck drop like your playoff life depends on it, then they have to play from behind.

I feel f***ing sick
Could be air in the gut.

Definitely understand the negativity. Play has decidedly swung Tampa's way and they have the track record to back it up.

NYR getting some key injuries at the wrong time.

Tampa is working the refs hard, if you thought Pens/Canes got away with a lot Tampa is saying hold my beer. Playing the NHL's ridiculous game management system like a fiddle.

That said. Big picture. 2-2 series with 2 out of the 3 remaining at MSG. NYR need to find a way to swing the pendulum back. Igor going full on lights out is the most realistic way I can see that they do that. Probably an unfair thing to even put out there, but that is a path I can see to NYR winning this series.

Agreed...the winner of this series will be a sacrificial lamb in the Finals. Neither of these teams can skate worth a damn. Tampa plays ugly hockey, just like the Canes. These playoffs have been just awful to watch with all this trap bullshit.

Which is why scoring first is going to be absolutely vital. Make them come at you and take chances and do what they did to us. Clog up the NZ and get odd man chances the other way.

On another note, if Chytil is injured that is just terribly unfortunate. He was really having a coming out party and looking like he was on the way to cementing a top six role. I really hope he's back next game.

On Game 5:

“The people will get the players ready” - Steve Valiquette

While I know it’s natural to get a boost from your home crowd, this just can’t be the only way to win. You absolutely need to be able to win on the road outside of TWO f***ING ELIMINATION GAMES.

Broken team mentality. Weak.

I hope someone runs McDonagh out onto 8th ave. f*** that guy.

Don't know how you can say that they're a broken team when they've won the games that they 100% need to win.

Heading off to bed, but just a few things.

While, yes, they are clogging up the neutral zone, it's not like the Rangers haven't found success in gaining entry into their zone and creating offensive chances.

The problem is that you don't have players in the crease creating havoc for Vasi. And with that, you can't keep shooting wounded duck wobblers at him without any traffic in front.

And the D has to lay into their hits and be mean and nasty when a Bolt is in our crease. Look at Rutta. That rat bastard is either hitting our players in the face, pinning their heads down on the ice or even using his elbow.
