The bad ice probably helps the Rangers in this case. If that top Isles line can't make pretty plays, the team is substantially less dangerous.

That's your opinion. The ice isn't usually bad. The games are usually good (the last two WC's and this weekends game for examples). And it seems to be promoting hockey since the stadium is absolutely packed.

There's the Winter Classic, the Heritage Classic, now the Stadium Series..are there any I'm missing? It's starting to get chintsy and confusing and yes, losing it's original luster of JUST being a big New Years event. Should've been the weekend games and end it there..don't see the point of this random, mid-week game taking place at Yankee Stadium. They're novel, but it sounds like most of the players couldn't care either way/don't like the ice and the weather's a B to deal with.

Its not the ice. The ice is fine. Its too cold.

It's both. The puck and ice are so cold it's jumping and the players probably don't have full feeling in their fingers

Its interesting how the ice in LA was so much smoother.

If the ice is too cold, it becomes overly hard and brittle. You can see the cracking of the ice surface. During the intermission, the zambonis will put down hot water.

Agreed its overkill. NHL is better off just having the winter classic once a year.
