BORING. That was rough to watch. The ice seems to be directly impacting the game. Thus impacting my entertainment.

What were the chances? 2-1? And that's being GENEROUS. Not one good chance on either side.

That's your opinion. The ice isn't usually bad. The games are usually good (the last two WC's and this weekends game for examples). And it seems to be promoting hockey since the stadium is absolutely packed.

The operative word being usually, I don't want to have that word in a sentence that describes a game. It's like saying, let's do it, maybe it's good.

That the stadium is packed does not mean it promotes hockey, it's a novel thing so people want to go but would be fans are presented with a hockey that is less than stellar, why would they continue to see it?
Die hard fans will go and see the next game no matter what, new fans might not be interested in paying to see if they believe this is what hockey is.

besides, there is an inflation of these "special events" now and if the format was so good, would you want to see a playoff series played outside like this? I dare say you'd say no to that.

Totally agree. ****ing snooze fest

Agreed its overkill. NHL is better off just having the winter classic once a year.

Overkill or not, it makes the NHL more money and gives them more exposure.

Detroit/Toronto had the highest rated regular season game in 39 years at 4.4 million. Rangers/Devils drew 2.1 million viewers, highest rated regular season game on NBC that wasn't a Winter Classic. Higher ratings, more exposure, more money from ads, etc.

Beyond getting higher TV Ratings, they're drawing 50K+ in attendance, compared to 18k at a normal arena, at inflated prices. The Winter Classic had over 100k in attendance, no? Or at least close to it, I would imagine. 90k?

You're going to see more and more of this because fans are showing they want the outdoor games with their pockets.

If you have an outdoor game and you want to show it off, stick with New years/weekends. This is an overkill. Hopefully next year we can stay out of this and NJ can play the Islanders.

I'm sorry. I'm just sick of bias announcing and the game has not been entertaining.

Things I enjoy more than this game:

I think no matter who they picked to be the entertainment someone was going to disapprove. Cee lo or however you spell it is not a bad singer. It could have been way worse.

Interesting.

Makes you appreciate all that pond hockey we played as kids. Guess we were all doing a pretty good job making any plays, eh?

For sure. I used to play pond hockey, too. Optimal temperature was right below freezing. I've played when it was around 0 and the ice would just be too cold. It's the same thing on an indoor rink.

A rink that's too cold is probably better than one that's too warm, but not by much.
