Post-Game Talk: Rangers vs. Canes | 3/18/13 | Who needs goals?

Am I the only one who thought Richards played well tonight? Yeah he was stripped of the puck by Semin, but he was constantly generating offense for the first time in weeks.

The big thing for me is he was backchecking and making smart decisions. So yes, he definitely played well.

He doesn't need to put up 100 points, but he needs to be useful and he was tonight. Sending Skinner to the line, to use basketball jargon, with a few seconds left showed good awareness

I don't see anything different about this team yet. When they are playing more consistently and winning more consistently i'll tip my hat to them. Until then I'm not planning the parade.

Bead showed signs of life . One would think he'd have 12 million reasons to show up every night but its a step forward .

Talk about missing the big picture.

Yeah, because teams just magically just push a button and they end their losing streak and start playing amazingly again.

Really, it happens just like that.

Win is a win, and in this situation especially these 2 points are extremely important.

If we are looking at the big picture, this was a step towards right direction.

I also now have my victory GIF collection ready for needed wins.

take the 2pts and run. Flyer lose, so it's an important win.

this team is painful to watch trying to score.

God we ****ing better beat the Devils tomorrow. I want to run up the score so bad that it'll result in goonfests. I want Torts to unleash the Haley.

BTW Haley is awesome. No he's not Prust, but I think with some more seasoning he can approach that level.

For a team that can't score, scoring 1 goal, again, is a step in the right direction?

No shootouts in the playoffs.

Agreed. Want a slump buster? Beat the **** out of the Debs while Marty watches on the bench.

And I hope Haley has permanently taken Asham's goon spot.

J.T. fumbled like Mark Sanchez. He fixed his **** up though which is very unlike Mark Sanchez.

Allowing only 1 goal and having 36 shots on the net is the step in the right direction. Offensive creativity and offensive chances were steps in the right direction as well. Richards showing signs of life is a step in the right direction.

Scoring is still hard, but baby steps.. Baby steps.

No time for baby steps when we are halfway through a shortened season. Scoring is still hard? That's a problem.

Having 36 shots on net, against DAN ELLIS, and scoring once, is NOT good.

Wow. I'm way happier with this win than most of you. I don't know about the rest of you, in my years of watching hockey, after a long goal drought teams rarely turn it on and all of a sudden start scoring 5 a game. First you need to turn the momentum where you start taking the play to the other team more often than they're taking it to you and then you start getting the goals.

The Rangers outplayed a fine hockey team today 2 out of 3 periods plus the overtime. They had scoring chance after scoring chance. Guys who'd been playing like ass (Del Z, Richards, Gabby, Miller) all played much better games than they had been recently. Hell, the fourth line even had a couple of solid chances. I swear I even saw Brian Boyle with some jump in his game a couple of times.

I'll take it.

Which is exactly what we are saying.

We are being realistic about this win. I'm not going to jump for joy over mediocrity. Sorry. This team was #1 in the East last year and this season has been a massive disappointment for many reasons some justified and some not. If you want to be excited over a lame SO win, so be it. I'm not.
