I don't understand why fighting is necessary. Sure hardiness and such but really. Don't expect this guy in the NHL. Decent shot and big, worse skater, worse attitude about the game, and consistency issues. Do we really want more of that than we already have?

He had some upside in the past. I didn't think he was THAT far away from the NHL a year or so ago. He has a little bit of 'crazy' in him, which this team lacks.

Also, he had 4 goals in his first 7 AHL games this year and then left for Sweden. My guess? He asked for a trade and then left. He wanted a new start as he felt he was close but was being passed over. I think he may have more in the tank than many here believe.

He started the season in Sweden and came back last month.

It's not as if it hurts the team any. Mashinter brings nothing.

Mashinter had no role here, so why the hell not?

Yeah, but it's just a matter of picking your lottery tickets. Unless Beach like showed up in Sweden completely out of shape, half-injured or something -- we should have gambled on Mashinter or someone else. Not a player that sucks way more than Mashinter...

I was high on Beach like a year ago. But the kid I saw in Sweden made Palmieri kid look like a game breaker.

Also, if you think that the Rangers were Pejorative Slured before, I think that Beach brings the IQ level down almost a full exponent. :sarcasm:

But yeah. He's a nut, I don't mind the move since Mash is useless and Beach may have a sliver of upside.

Beach is a nutcase. Horrible person horrible player.

We have enough boy scouts to fill a troop. Worth a shot. Our bottome 6 produces almost nothing. It will be good to have a crazy guy in the lineup (if he ever gets to NY)

Not excited about this either way.

Mashinter is too slow to play in the NHL, but Beach is a bust. Typical Sather trade as some have mentioned already. Maybe he gets it together and becomes a chippy 4th liner. Not sure how good for the locker room this would be either.

I know nothing about this dude. All this talk of him being a nutcase...any examples? Or is it just more 'my friends cousins sisters boyfriends friends uncle heard it from his neighbor' crap?

Beach was never bad for the locker room. Just nuts on the ice.

lol you or the real one. Boyle isnt a great skater but i feel like he did improve with her coaching, if she could do the same for beach he could be an ideal 3rd liner

I like teams that have a guys that is pretty unpredictable.

One thing you can BANK on, is anyone of our top guys gets looked at incorrectly, the opposing teams top guys will be looking over their shoulders all game.

you put one of our guys in the hospital, we will put two of yours in the morgue.

Beach is an idiot and a welcome addition to the Rangers.

That would still be your cousin. Redundant. ;)

nothing special but one or two people will say that there is another trade coming lol

He has an extensive junior history.

For example, this is his last game for the Lethbridge Hurricanes before he was basically kicked off the team (suspended by the team for the rest of the playoffs):

This. I have wanted him for 2 years but his move to Sweden and back has left a lot of ?'s.

I still think that if he can calm himself down a bit he would be a good 4th liner in the NHL. He fights, stirs and pot and has decent hands.

Who cares about IQ?

The real question is whether or not he is handsome. When we lose Pyatt, that handsomeness needs to be replaced somewhere.

Off the ice, he's polite; on it, he's probably the most hated player in the WHL.

"He's like Eddie Haskell," said one WHL observer.

"He's got a big mouth. He chirps. He plays on the edge and crosses the line, for sure ... his reputation for doing stuff goes back to bantam," said another WHL executive, who likes his talent, and his big shot, but admits he's got baggage.

"I saw Beach play awhile back and he scored a goal, killed penalties and speared a poor guy in the head," said an NHL front-office guy.

Beach is "potentially" the kind of player the Rangers need as a 3rd/4th line tweener: A chippy agitator who doesn't have hands completely made of stone.

There's probably a 75% chance he's not it either, but Mashinter was 100% not it.

Both guys had this year remaining on their contracts and that was it, better to have a unscratched lottery ticket than a loser.
