Tons and tons of nhl players have career ending injuries.

U never leave money on the table unless u are 100 percent comfortable with never getting it back.

Can't count on That next contract.
 
I saw someone post that Shattenkirk said he wanted to sign for 3 more years after this current contract, and that is the 7 years he wanted. Where did he say this ?

Anyone know?

Im not even a huge advanced stats guy (I don't completely dismiss them either) and I think Fowler is absolute trash. Since I think Fowlerbis trash its only appropriate to call that deal a dumpster fire.

You know who isn't trash? Shattenkirk. You know what isn't a dumpster fire? His contract.

....and this is why I respect the livin hell out of this guy...and I barley know who he is. In Life. In Fact. Their are actually things worth more than money. And for this guy it's wearing the Rangers Jersey he's wanted to wear as a Pro since he was Five Freaking years old! That's Passion. That's Big Brass Balls. That is Solid Gold in my book.

Walks away from $20 million cause he wants to wear Blue. I Mean Thats Just Awesome.

If the PP doesn't improve a fair bit it's time to fire all the coaches

No more excuses that "we need a power play QB"

ALso, the common knock is that Shattenkirk plays sheltered minutes which is why his advanced stats look so good. How much truth is there to that? I thought he was pretty much their 2nd pair D behind Petriangelo for years until Paryanko came up

He really wasn't that sheltered. We know ZS don't really have much of an impact, and he usually played with similar QoT as compared with QoC
 
He's a perennial 40-50 point defenseman. I don't care what pairing label you give him. We needed one of those.
 
Look at the list of players with a lower percentage of DZS the last 3 seasons than Shatty.

Letang, Karlsson, Muzzin, Paul Martin, Stralman, Doughty, Smith, Campbell, Skjei, Hedman, Krug, Orlov.

Stepan+ Raanta for 7th overall+ DeAngelo+ capspace which allowed us to sign Shatty. Im gonna miss Stepan but ye this was great work by Gorton. Damn impressive by Gorton to get Shatty signed under 7 mill aav for 4 years when Shatty had 7*7 offers by other teams

He said it in his interview on the nhl network with Weekes.
 
I don't know what scaries me most, that Kevin got 6.5M, or that Rangers' fans think it is a fantastic deal. Shatty is an elite puck mover and I like him, but he can't be top-4 dman due to his horrible defensive abilities. Thanks Gorton it's just a middle term deal.

Doesn't really prove much since they all face much better competition
 
Just curious as to what people think would be a worse deal; what Kevin got or $3.8 million for 7 years? Either way it comes out to $26.6 million.

The only top-4 I'd take for sure over our current group is Nashville, maybe Calgary. That's about it. Maybe San Jose because of Burns and Vlasic, but Skjei and Smith are better than Martin and Braun pretty easily.
 
Ventured over to the trade board. Caps fans are so salty. :laugh:

Interested to see what they do with Mika and Shattenkirk on the PP. Mika seemed a bit uncomfortable as the triggerman in the left dot.
