Girardi couldve gotten more somewhere else. He chose to stay. Love him for that

Solid deal. Gave us a slight discount for more years. If he declines a bit in the final 2 years the cap will have risen enough that he'll still be a good middle pair guy. Very happy. I love Danny G.

not really. his buddy Girardi is staying. Maybe he caves and takes 6 million......I cant believe I just he would cave at 6 million. Just take Cally!!!!!!

Happy Girardi is signed. the RD without him could have been scary since not many are out there
 
This is great to hear. He definitely could have gotten more on the open market, for sure. Glad G is locked up...now time for the dominos to fall.
 
Though admittedly I was interested in moving him earlier in the season, I have since come full circle and was really hoping he'd be resigned. There was just too big of a question mark as to who would play first pair RD.

I take this deal for Girardi any day. Let's Go Rangers!

He definitely could have gotten more in free agency, and I respect him for that.

But I'm still not sure he's worth the price. He's a very good defender so it isn't a drastic overpayment, but no defenseman in the league who provides as little offensively as Girardi does makes this much money. Not today, anyway.
 
Great deal. He could have gotten a decent amount more on the open market. Hopefully he'll retire in blue.
 
great deal for us. girardi took a little less than he could have got come july 1st. with 3 years NMC it guarantees Girardi is a Ranger for at least 11 years.

maybe but he blocks shots like mad and hardly ever misses a game. Time will tell. Its always real tough cause if they don't sign him they are hurt big time over the next few yrs. Sure in yrs 4,5,6 he may start to decline but hopefully the cap is high enough where it doesn't hurt if he does

i dont anticipate defenseman like him making less on the open market going forward. i think its good value for girardi and its rare to say that about a free agent to be, especially one that would have been one of the best players available on the open market.
