Confirmed with Link: Rangers sign Dominic Moore (1 year, $1M)

Maybe @32/33. The Halpern that was here in NY was not close to what he was when he was younger. I would take Halpern at 32/33 years old on this team for 1 million. That was my point.

That's fair.

I don't think Moore is an upgrade over Boyle, hence why I believe this is a redundant signing. Taking one year off factors a lot in that decision when he struggled with the Sharks (0g in 23 GP with Sharks), (4g in 79 GP total).

No, they are not. Moore is still effective when he doesnt score. Halpern was a waste.

? Halpern (usually) won faceoffs when he wasn't scoring and generally bought the same physical presence as Moore does.

He has played wing through large parts of his career. He is one of the better PKer's out there with his speed and forechecking ability. Underrated grit to his game.

As I said before, if he plays wing, or if Boyle does, it doesn't matter. It allows one of them to cheat consistently on the face-off which is a huge advantage game-in and game-out.

Moore is a more useful, dynamic player than Powe, Asham, Haley, Newbury and Pyatt, so yeah - upgrade.

And for 1 year. For PEANUTS.

Can't see how you dont like this signing.

Instant depth has been added.

if he can play wing then it's an improvement over Powe/Asham for sure.

That's where I see him unless they decide to move someone else to wing. Boyle has played well on the wing in the past. It all depends on who works better at center in Camp. Options are a good thing though.

It also gives them 5 legit centers on the NHL roster in case of an injury.

haha yeah I've thought about it from time to time, but his posts intrigue me to find out why he thinks what he thinks...He doesn't like Moore or any current or prospect Ranger by the sounds of it...

Kershaw-this isn't really the place for this, so hopefully this won't draw ppl off topic, but can you name a few players/prospects in the NHL you do like or 20 names you'd want together as a team to play for the Rangers? - thanks

the 2010-11 Rangers.

I like it if this moves Boyle to the wing.

Good deal... I don't really feel as jazzed as some here are. Whatever.

?

I've followed both players throughout their careers. Very similar players.

Weren't you like 6 the last time Halpern was a good offensive player? How closely were you "following" him back then? They've had similar careers, but Halpern's offense disappeared long before he came to the Rangers.

No.

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 4 characters.

I loved watching that team for some reason, they just grew on me. Devastated that Callahan got hurt with the slapshot.

I really, really liked watching that team too, don't get me wrong. It was a fun group and their attitude translated to the first 50 games of the next season.

But, ultimately, there wasn't enough talent there.

Shots fired. Agreed, the comparison is asinine.

the 2010-11 Rangers.

for anyone interested here is a link to that roster:

This isn't place for this conversation, but some point ill ask for more detailed responses about that roster in a more appropriate thread.

Back to Dominic Moore: I like the signing, I'm excited to have him back in Rangers Red/White/ and Blue! I think this opens the door to trade some players hopefully as the summer goes on.

Halpern was pretty useless last year. Okay penalty killing--nothing else. There's really no grit to his game. If Moore comes back to play the way he used to he can be a real ******* at times. Good speed--good penalty killing--some offense. He's not as big as I'd like but you can't have everything. He's also a player who finds a niche or figures out how to fit in with his teams. 32 years old for 1 year--good deal. Gave too many years and $'s to other 3rd- 4th liners like Rupp, Pyatt, Asham etc.
