15 points in 25 games comes out to 49 points over 82 games. This comes after 8 points in 19 regular season games. He may very well put up better numbers next year, but a 39 year old experiencing a drop off isn't exactly unheard of.

Actual thought from you would be an improvement.

Sigh little man, you're forgetting his other 61 points from that year, but nice try.:sarcasm:

This is growing on me.

I think his leadership and mentoring capabilities are being overlooked by some.

Still need to see him in action before I'm totally on board, but this isn't the worst signing in the world

We exchanged a guy in his prime for an inferior player who's 37. It's kind of an outrage.

We traded defense for offense and saved cap space. Youth isn't always better.

Being upset is fine but Jesus the world didn't end. Trading Hank for Khabiboulin would warrant this level of rage.

Anyone saying Boyle is done or lost his legs is simply wrong. He was still being counted on as a #1 guy in SJ, which he isn't anymore and it hurt his game. He still has legs, he still has vision, and his work ethic is tremendous. With limited 5on5 minutes he will transform our powerplay, I have no doubt. Given the choice between this and Stralman who wasn't playing the PP, it's a no brainer. Stralman's defense is replaceable. A proven right handed powerplay wizard is the better investment. Detroit also offered him 11mil, and who knows what kind of crazy contract the isles were offering him. The guy cares, and wants to win. not "typical Sather" at all.

At least you can still buy your Boyle jersey. Serves two purposes.

But he's old. So is MSL. Nash is gonna be an albatross. Hank ain't cheap either. The system is dry.

This team could be in MASSIVE trouble 2-3 years down the road. Any early word on who's going 1st overall in 2017?

I am not surprised there is so much hate for this deal. That hate stems from the Rangers rep of signing ageing past their prime players. It's a rep that is deserved but not always the case with every player that's on the other side of 35.

This is a good deal, money and term are good. Boyle took less money to come to a real contender, he knows hoe to win and has won A cup.

We needed Boyle and what he brings to the team. We finally have a legit PP QB. Boyle will help Mac Truck hit that next level.

In today's NHL contending teams have two lines that could be 1st lines on lesser teams. You need guys like Stralman to shut those lines down. We don't get past PIT this year without Stralman shutting down their 2nd line, which would be a first line on tons of teams in the league. If Boyle can defend well and eat those minutes, it's not the end of the world. If he can't, our D group took a massive hit. You can use guys like Diaz as PP specialists for 10 min a game at whatever small cap hit he's making. This signing is just stupid all around

I like stralman but i have a feeling he wont be as good in tampa. Even though our fans act like he was a GOD he only had really 1 strong year but he still didnt put up points. Im not saying Dan Boyle is a great signing BUT we will give us more offense on teh defenssive side and on the PP which we need. Other that Mcdonagh we didnt have any offensive d-men and that includes stralman who all of a sudden is brian leetch lol

Yeah this team won't be challenging for the first overall with Hank and McDonagh locked up long term. They're going to be a consistent playoff team.

It's not that he was Brian Leetch, but he was a great shutdown guy. We're sacrificing defense in the hopes that Dan Boyle will save our offense. An offense that right now doesn't even have two top 6 centers.

We're probably not gonna score that much anyway. We should have stuck with the defense that got us to the Finals.

Stralman apparently wnated more money from the rangers than he asked ofr in tampa and in tampa he will save money with the whole tax issue. Cant overpay everyone. Boyle is at least a 2 year deal. I know you might not to admit it and i respect you are a bigtime Stralman fan but Boyle has had a better track record. Stralman has had one really good year but without points

Maybe but some slower years are on the horizon. Maybe we should take a break from trading our 1st's and if we're not in good position at the deadline, maybe we try to get back into this year's 1st round.

Inferior from an objective standpoint, perhaps. But NHL team's needs are subjective. The NYR's lack of offense from the blueline makes it so a perhaps inferior offensive dman is actually a better addition than a superior defensive defenseman.

Especially when we can specialize roles with Boyle playing only PP minutes and Klein playing only PK.

For example, if we exchanged Nash for Spezza, and Nash was considered slightly better, most people would consider it a win because of team needs.

Spezza isn't 10 years older than Nash though. That's the part that really bothers me.

That's inaccurate. Brooks corrected himself. Stralman was asking the Rangers for the same contract Tampa gave him.

Did stralman just choose tampa over us because of taxes or did NYR just not want to give the same amount as tampa for him?

I have no problem with boyle, called this happening weeks ago actually. I'm just curious on the stralman stuff.

People were saying that Stralman took less when it was incorrectly reported the deal was for $20 million and a $4 million cap hit. He actually got the same cap hit and term he was asking the Rangers for.

We made it to the cup with these "old guys" we need youth to actually step up and play roles now.. System dry? We scored more goals this year then I can ever remember.. If your crying over Boyle a guy whos assignment is pp duty, and top 4 damn ( not counted on to stop other teams top line) I think you should just start rooting for Tampa then since your boys gone. I would want no part of these contracts these teams are throwing out

I would love to see you guys complain about this deal after the the two ridiculous deals made by the Capitals.
