Confirmed with Link: Rangers sign Blake Wheeler [1Y/800K]

What is elite from a metrics standpoint? Serious question. If Chytil can hit 22 mph, I reckon the fastest skaters in the league are 25 and up.
I'm not sure but since guys in the NFL can run 22 MPH I would think elite NHL skaters have to be somewhere in the 25 plus range. Decades ago they said Bobby Hull shot 118mph and skated 30mph but I think both numbers were exaggerated.

Yep. And when you are analyzing data, this gets thrown away as an outlier.

Yeah and FWIW, MacK's has been clocked in at top end 23ish in game.

22-23 is pretty elite. McDavid is really in a class of his own.

This is all with a puck on your stick. There are plenty of guys who can really burn with out one. Oliver Moore who just got picked is like top 2-3 fastest players in a straight line with out a puck I've ever seen.

McDavid has clocked in at 40 km/hr on an in game rush.

Thats about 25.
while stickhandling and roofing a puck. I truly do not think we will see another McDavid or anyone better. My brain could not comprehend it.

It's one thing to be the fastest guy in the league. It's another thing that you can dangle and roof a puck at that speed.

It's crazy that his level of greatness is actually UNDER rated.

Not only his hands, but he also processes everything at an elite level while moving that fast.

the era that he plays in will drag down his overall numbers in comparison to the guys who did insane stuff in the 80s but he is the GOAT IMO.

Really needs to get a Cup notch on his belt to cement GOAT status. Smart asses will always add "who never won a Cup" to his legacy otherwise.

Imagine McDavid on Carolina

He won’t be in Edmonton forever imo

I will stop watching hockey if McDavid plays in Carolina. Unless the league takes Carolina out of the division with realignment.

Hell will freeze over before McDavid and the league let him go to Carolina, who would probably low ball him anyway.

Not if the franchise agrees that every post-win Storm Surge will be McDavid-themed. He'd like that.

I think there is a short list of team's he would go if he leaves Edmonton and I'd be stunned if the Canes were on it. We definitely are though.

McDavid might be the only one who's got enough raw talent and ability not to suck on Broadway, and even with that, his annual average production would be down to 90 points.

Less than Bread? :D

I mean a 90-point annual average over 5 or so years. Panarin has 3 years left. I think his production will decline in a way that takes his annual average point total below 90. I'm just spitballing a 5-year tour if McDavid ever winds up here.

I think McDavid in his prime would do amazing here. Id be willing to trade a ton to get him. By October. :)

He's been an obsessive and dedicated to the game. Training religiously as a young boy.....

He'd come to New York and become a degenerate

He 100% will be a Ranger in 2037 when he's 40 yrs old and on his last legs. Glen Sather will drink from the fountain of youth and become GM again at 94 yrs old to ensure it happens.

The problem of McDavid in New York (even as a 40-year-old virgin) is what I imagine happened to Ishmael in Kingpin, after @Filip Chytil shows him the vices of the city.

"Edmonton never had THOSE!"
