Im not OK with anything that happened last night.

Im far more concerned with this team upping their compete level and fixing the defense than circus side-show antics.

The Nash hit, while dirty, was not some jarring blow that demanded a direct response -- in fact, if Nash didn't get a headache 7 shifts later, nobody would be talking about it.

Hertl's final goal was poetic justice -- the team deserved to be embarrassed further after that effort.

and this is where we differ.

The moment I found out that Nash was not coming out for the 2nd period, Stuart would have been addressed IMMEDIATELY.

I have said in previous posts that I had no issue with the Hertl goal there. The time for emotional replies was to start the 2nd, after the 6th goal and to start the 3rd.

going after Hertl in that spot would have been pathetic and WAY to late.

Those are problem areas.

He scored between his legs....Malik style....

To me, a goal is a goal...regardless of how you do it. If that's how you feel comfortable shooting, then go for it.

Much ado about nothing. You don't like it? Next time play some defense.

A bit of showboating, but I agree about that last part. Play defense.

Captain Drury concussed by glencross

Gaborik mauled by Carcillo

Mcdonagh hit high by paccioretty and boarded by ovechkin

Nash hit to the head 2x

Nice heritage of cowardice we're developing. Shameful.

They can layout Callahan Thursday and no one will lift a finger.

We sign fodder like Pouliite and Pyatt.

I love you !@!!!!! you get it

I was laughing throughout this game, total throwaway.

Hertl made it worth the watch, kid looks tremendous and was cool seeing his mom there to witness those highlights.

This team has alot of work to do, still, this road trip isn't the be all end all, way too much overreaction going on amongst fans here, but I guess thats to be expected when the sky is falling :propeller

One thing is certain. ..

Biron is nearly done. Granted he was thrown to the wolves but he can only handle light lifting

We are a soft team, period. That's not gonna change anytime soon.

Anyone taking bets on who starts the first "Fire AV" thread of the year?

What are you talking about? That team was terrible!!! I mean, didn't you read genius boy's op-ed debunking the idea of that team actually being good? :sarcasm:

HORRIFIC pre-season, 1-2 start with one of the worst losses I've seen in my 25 years of watching the team. Yeah, but once AV gets his system in place, everything is gonna be coming up roses!!!

In all seriousness, this team has no identity, at all. Sure, we just got a new coach, but I'm not sure he knows what our identity will be, either.

I never said that team was terrible. They just weren't as great as everyone seems to think.

I would normally agree with you, but there was a lot of primal issues last night that were distributing even off the scoreboard. I wouldn't say the general consensus is that the sky is falling yet...but if it makes you feel like you are a better fan...go for it.

Glad I had my own game, in which we won, rather than stay up again and watch this horror.

Watched the highlights, looked up some game notes and quotes though.

I am sure the organization provides a lot of great things for the team and I am sure they travel under some of the best conditions. But this is a long trip from home for a very long time and back to back games are never easy.

I am still putting a lot of blame on the entire organization. I am confident that more could have been done to better prepare the team for this back to back game and the many more road games to come in the following weeks.

I would personally make sure they all spent time doing yoga, meditating (same thing the Seattle Seahawks coach has them doing now throughout the year) and eat well last night. Fruits, vegetables, hydration. I am sure they were given a solid meal and most, if not all stretched well... but you could clearly see it was not enough.

I would have had each player meet with some kind of trainer to make sure everything from a knot to a sore leg was treated as best as possible.

Like I said. I am sure this was done on a minimal scale but im thinking much more in depth that I would bet money was not done. You can clearly see they were dead last night. They didnt have the energy to battle, fight back or even skate for the most part.

So after all the monitoring and tweaking of these players. Feeding them tons of vitamins and hydrating them with the best things out there.

I would still say to myself. Maybe.. just maybe there are a few guys who need a day off. Have players at hand. But dont they have a taxi squad for this very reason.

I am sure Fast would have been better suited over some guyss who looked dead last night like Pyatt or an injured Cally.

I expect the Rangers to have the best stuff for its players. You would be surprised how some teams treat its players. Gary Roberts use to talk about how the Lightning were known for dessert carts on planes and before games days. Yes. I am sure plates full of sugar is the best for hydration, recovery and a professional game.

Where is this sleep science too. It better be implemented.

It's not like Hertl was on a full breakaway down the center. That move gave him a better chance to score. What is he supposed to do, purposely **** it up? If he's on a clean breakaway he's got more options and it wouldnt be a necessity but in this case....

The only ones that should be embarrassed are the Rangers.

remember when anisimov did that shotgun pump celebration against tampa a few years ago and VC attacked and pummeled him? that's what a real team does when they get embarrassed...the whole ranger team should of went over to hertl and lay a beating on him....even old school dave Maloney said that if hertl tried that in circa 1972 in philly or boston, he would left the rink with only one arm intact....real disgusted with the team after allowing that,,, inexcusable,,,Callahan should remove the 'C' from his chest....sorry he is not a leader to allow that to happen...and the whole team just sat there like idiots

What's cally going to do besides catch punches with his face? He's an overrated homegrown grinder born in ny. He is an opportunist who busts his ass out there so he isn't the problem. This team is policing itself now that torts is gone. When soft players have no accountability bad things happen.

The rangers quit last night.

for as much as a lot of you Torts apologists praise the 11-12 team, you conveniently forget that team looked JUST LIKE this team at the time that year. No direction, minimal effort, Hank was eh, calm the **** down already.

Not the consensus but some are making way too much of the situation.

Yeah that was a great move at high speed, if that were Zucc or Fast everyone here would be posting it 75 times to 75 different soundtracks :p:

The team at the beginning of the season never looked as awful as they did last night.

That being said, despite the poor comparison, you're correct. It's three games into the season with a new coach.

edit- Just skimming through this thread, some of you should really become writers for the Post or something. You guys are really great at constructing narratives less than 5 games into an 82 game season.

They got off to a slow start. You'll have to direct me to the 7 goal loss though. You'll be looking for a long time.

Maybe I'm old school, bitter, a dick, likely all 3, but in my opinion when you are pulling the between the legs shot for your 4th goal when your team is up 8-2 you deserve to get a response.

In pee wee or Bantams and so on yeah, its showboating. But at the highest level, if pro's will let you walk in and do that, you have every right. You earned it. Try and take what I earned away from me, just you try ;)

:shakehead if any of you seriously think that adding Michael Haley is the solution to this team's problems... I just... I can't even...

I get that the name of this website is hockey's future, but the fact that any of you actually believe that calling up a bunch of mid-level prospects with little-to-absolutely no NHL experience (much less SUCCESS) will turn this team around is frightening.

It's the 3rd game of a season, with a new coach, a new system, several new players, and coming off a training camp where we didn't even ice close to our regular lineup until the final game. This team has been playing under Tort's system for many years, and doing it well. It's also a lineup of young kids who came up and learned how to play in the NHL under that system. It's going to suck but it's going to take legitimate time for this team to find it's BRAND NEW identity under AV.

Not to mention the Sharks won their previous games 4-1 and 4-1, and are consistently one of the best regular season and particularly early season teams in the NHL.

I know it sucks to watch your favorite team get killed, but please try and find a little perspective. Do any of you seriously think we would have had a chance at winning a cup if we had kept up the Torts legacy? The team is going in a new direction and these are unfortunately the growing pains of that process.

Remember last year when we beat Pittsburgh 6-1 then lost to them in a shootout two days later? Yeah, teams have good games and bad games. This was a bad game for the Rangers playing the second game of a back to back. Were learning a new system and our defense is still struggling with jumping up into the play. They will learn to pick their spots better and Hank will get better as well. Its an 82 game season, we have plenty of time to right the ship. This loss hurt, but in the long run its game 3 out of 82.
