Carcillo for a 7th helped this team or have u allrdy forgotten the Flyers game ?

Sather has done a good job. Brassard, Dorsett and Moore for Gabby was a good trade. Gabby is just injured all the time and he isnt playing that well. The Carcillo trade was even better.

We lost Gabby and a 7th round pick for Brassard, Dorsett, Moore and Carcillo. I dnt miss Gabby 2014 and a 7th round pick got 0 value. Brassard creates alot of offense. Dorsett and Carcillo are just nasty :laugh: Moore is an okey 6th D.

I never said Sather doesn't make good trades. The Carcillo pickup was fantastic.

But he generally does nothing at the deadline when alot of teams are selling.

What do you guys think is the reason for Staal's resurgence? You'd think he's play worse after the concussion but he's been a different player.
 
one thing thats becoming painfully obvious is the Rangers will try to protect leads in the 3rd rather than playing the way that got them there. FAR more conservative when they have the lead...Ive never been a fan of that. Renney did it, Torts did it and now AV does it.

I'm of the belief that you play the way that got you there.

Rangers absolutely dominated the Sens for the first 2 periods..then go into semi shutdown mode and get outshot 16-6 in the 3rd because of that ridiculous prevent defense.

i dont know why so many coaches insist on doing that.

Most teams do it. Why play hard and risk injury or a random 2 on 1 against when you're up 3-1 with 15 minutes left? Makes no sense.

Agree. Plus it's a long season so if there is a way to conserve energy for the next game (which is next day in this particular case) it makes sense to do it.
 
Phoenix did the same thing. It's natural to take less chances when you are up by 2 goals in the 3rd. Even with us getting less shots, we still outscored them in the 3rd.

because you open yourself up to relentless attacks...shot blocks, and injuries..

imho youre far more likely to injure yourself playing defense for a period than playing offense for a period.

and, if youre dominating that way, you might just blow it out of reach midway through the 3rd where you can then play your 3rd and 4th lines and rest your top 2 (though the rangers really dont have a top 2..theyre pretty balanced)

that goal was 100% because of MZA.

He singlehandedly made an amazing read and went in and scored. its not like we got amazing scoring chances in that period..it was 1 chance.

they gave up a ton of quality shots, I cant remember the winger on the far side that totally missed a wide open empty net.

that game coulda been a lot closer than it was.

i know this is a coaching thing, not a rangers thing. 95% of the coaches out there coach that way.

i just firmly disagree with it. always have, always will.

same thing with having 50 million people at training camp. if it were me, id have my opening night roster that i had penciled in, and like 2 or 3 spares.

thats it.

develop chemistry earlier, get your systems stuff earlier, etc.

I wanted to post this a couple of games ago. There are definitely signs of Step coming around offensively. He went through a stretch where he generated zero scoring opportunities. Then it improved to one - two chances a game. Then to three - four a game stretch that started a few games back. Even though he wasn't scoring or putting up points steadily this was a sign that he was going to start scoring soon.

NHL players cannot be afraid to play because of a prior injury. It makes it much more likely to get hurt again. Most likely, Staal is feeling good, knows he can handle getting hit and has confidence on the ice again. He's certainly looking more and more solid.

That's a real interesting point. After this latest hit, maybe Staal is feeling a lot less worried...he knows he can take a hard knock.

AV has always done that. A lot of coaches sit on leads in the 3rd, Quenneville and his Blackhawks are no exception. Some of the best coaches are guilty of sitting on leads. It just happens.

They might've gotten outshot 16-6, but how many shots had a real chance of going in? 4 or 5?

Wasn't that Karlsson? If so, Hagelin lifted his stick last minute and he fanned on the shot.

I think he is referring to the first shift Zinbanejad took with Turris and Ryan. Late in the game, after Hags back check on EK. I think Turris fed Zinbanejad for a one-timer at the leg side but Z missed the puck.
 
The last time Girardi/McDonagh allowed an even strength goal was when Joffery Lupul scored in the 7-1 blowout game. Holy ****.
