I'm not understanding the Dorsett hate. I thought we wanted more toughness. Aside from face offs is don't know what Boyle does for this team. I would rather have Dorsett than Boyle in the lineup.

this board has to complain about something. You are right they need some more grit and Carcillo AND Dorsett will help that together

Agreed. But the face offs are the important. Especially in a 2-1 game late in the 3rd. But Dorsett kills penalties also. It's a tough decision. I mean, you could use Moore on the draw, but that's a luxury where we can have two good fo men on the fourth line.

thought zucc really stood out. along with richards. talbot did what he had to do, as well. those were my three stars. the real star was the overall team play and a decent amount of puck-luck. it was a great game to watch.

How do you figure? What did we hit three posts? Ottawa had the puck luck today. They were abused for two periods and were fortunate to be only down two. We were the better team by a wide margin.

I believe Dorsett and Carcillo would be awesome vs those big west coast teams, Devils and Flyers. Vs softer teams i would much rather have Boyle - Moore - Carcillo.

Carcillo > Dorsett

@hagsfan Dorsett was a mess. Did he play hard? Sure, he did, not saying he didnt show effort but he took way too many stupid penalties and didnt really give back much to the team. Carcillo so far is leagues above him, hes a better agitator and seems to skate and handle the puck better. I HATED him a few years ago when he was on Philly though...

He actually didn't. In fact, one of the things you'll read on this board pretty consistently is how discipline Dorsett has been this year. He's taken his penalties but most have been the variety you can live with. To say Carcillo is leagues above anyone is funny. He's a similar player; both can skate, have some skill and will agitate and stick up for their teammates. No reason why they can't both play on our 4th line when Derek is healthy.

Boyle is a good PK. Other than that I agree With u.

Boyle is a good pk, but so is Dorsett. He plays regularly on that unit when he is healthy because he excels on the pk. When he is healthy it will be interesting cause the two games preceding today were two of Boyle's lowest ice time games. And he sat for 9 straight minutes in the 3rd against Detroit, much of it protecting a lead. Gonna be interesting.

Carcillo > Dorsett

The devils kill everyone with their 4th line. I think Carcillo-Moore-Dorsett or Carcillo-Boyle-Dorsett would both be great 4th lines. Moore line is faster and better offensively while still being physical and solid defensively. Boyle line is better at face offs but Boyle kind of kills any offense on that line. I think having Dorsett and Carcillo would be great for us. They are both chippy players who can actually play. They are exactly what we need. Boyle is big but not overly physical. He's great defensively and with face offs but Boyle is terrible offensively and slows down that line.

Boyle is one of the best on faceoffs, good at shot blocking and using his long stick. Dorsett is an energy player like Hagelin. Hagelin and Dorsett can skate rly well, but none of them are as good on PK as Boyle. 5 on 5 I would much rather have Dorsett than Boyle, but not on PK.

We need a good PK to be a contender and thats why Boyle should be in the lineup. How about Dorsett - Boyle - Carcillo? We also got Miller. The way i see it Miller, Moore and Boyle are all good players that can center the 4th line. The thing is that Boyle is the heart of Our PK and thats why I would go With him.

To many offensive zone penalties. U cant deny that. Still I think Dorsett has been "smarter" the last months.

let's just hope

that the aliens that came down and replaced the lazy, no heart, not chemistry, soft team don't ever leave.

Boyles ability on faceoffs matters very little now since he doesn't play center anymore. He's valuable on the pk and that's it.

Just keep it rolling. Amazing how the Rangers and most of the division have turned things around...LGR!!!

Staal will be awesome down the road if he can stay healthy over the POs.

Step needed a game like this, his line with two big goals.

Nash with the winner and what a winner it was. Individual effort all the way after that pass by Step. You don't defend yourself against a goal like that, puts teams on their back.

Zucc is playing really well.

What sticks out when you watch this team is the depth. We have three units that can score, good players on all units. Not many teams have that depth. Poo-Brass-Zucc on a 3rd? Or is it Hags-BR-Cally on a 3rd?

What I miss is a bit of a edge offensively. Both from the blueline but also up front.

That's what I'm trying to find out - people were talking about it earlier in this thread.

Conacher ran Talbot behind the net. Talbot then checked Conacher at the end of the period as they were skating off the ice.

Is there a clip of Talbot callin out Conacher?

I hope so. I really want to see it. Also, Im surprised how quickly so many people are warming up to Carcillo. With the animosity and vitriol towards him when we acquired him I thought it would be at least 2-3 months before these boards would come around.

I was at the game. A friggin library. Anyway, pretty much to as close as a perfect game as they come outside of the first goal and 10 mins of the third.

Talbot leaves a lot of rebounds in the slot, but the coverage was outstanding.

And Moore is still very very dumb. I dont get it. Chicago public school system, maybe.

Nobody is getting traded if they keep this up.

Talbot did not check Conacher. He gave him a bump when they skated passed eachother. Not super dramatic, but it was a clear messege of what he thought about being run over behind the net.

The face Conacher made was classic he was all butthurt. Talbot seems like the type of guy who would call out the opponents goalie if it came to it

Yeah because if Sather has shown us anything, it's that he's allergic to improving the team at the deadline, although he finally did it last year. But that's only because the team was struggling mightily.
