Didn’t watch the game but it appears Panarin heard us talking shit. More games like this from him and we’ll be just fine. 2-2 road trip, I’ll take it.
Believe it or not, I actually thought Panarin looked good in the loss against St Louis.

:sueme:

Man these new emojis are so lame lol.

If Miller worked on his skating stride and bulked up as we would expect him to, with a large lankier frame and all, he can be really good.
If you agree to improve yourself, he will agree to those terms.

I think Miller will emerge as being our best defensemen in our own zone within the next 2-3 years. Fox is obviously Fox - he plays a buttery smooth game when he's on and is phenomenal at the transition game - but I'd rather have Miller out there against the toughest assignments due to his size, reach, and speed.

As good as our defensemen are, I never felt like we've had a proper replacement to McDonagh, who was the most stingy blueliner the Rangers have had in the last decade when he was on. Miller probably has the best potential to be that guy of the bunch. And at the end of the day, that type of player is what you need to win against physically imposing teams who crash the net.
Interesting comment. Agreed re difficulty replacing McDonagh. He was not a great offensive Dman, but he was brilliant at stopping the other team. He always made the right play, without a lot of drama.

I don't think Miller will ever quite be that. However, Miller is uniquely dangerous in transition or offense with the puck on his stick. He is hard to cover.

Two questions to people who watched it live.

1) Was that first goal against just a rare stinker or did I miss some deflection or something?

2) Was the McKegg goal a purposeful deflection or did Miller's shot accidentally deflect off him?

Happy to win but bummed that Igor's numbers took a hit the last two games. Glad they're going back home where they play much better defense and Igor plays better.

They're gonna be real good. I have faith in both. Im certain Miller will up his physical game with more experience.
yep. he already is way more physical this year than last year. it's not because he's soft or doesn't want to engage IMO, it's just he doesn't understand when it's best to op for poke checks and stick checks and when to play the body yet. which is totally fine, he's just a kid.

I was reminded last night that I wish the Rangers had signed Glendening.

With our injuries he would have been useful to have,

That was a huge win to make it a 2-2 road trip. Toughest road trip of the year. They played some good and desperate teams who play well at home. Minny had lost something like 8 of 10, St. Louis had lost 4 in a row, and Dallas is fighting for a playoff spot and was 20-8 at home. 14 of their last 23 and 12 of their last 18 are at home. Get help at the deadline but don't be stupid and give away top picks/prospects for rentals.

He's certainly the most capable of scoring beyond the dots consistently. Not even Gaborik did that much.

Only a handful of players in the league have the ability to rip it like that. Ovechkin is one.

I'd say he's a level below Ovy, Stamkos, and Matthews on that but still elite. Remember when we just traded for him and he missed the net all the time on those (as he did in Ottawa)? He really improved his accuracy.

I don't understand all the dislike for KAM. He's a homegrown defenseman whose potential is limitless. A lot of people magnify the negatives and ignore the ever growing positives.

One bad play negates all the good he's done since the break. He's been our best defender since then. We are starting to see his offensive game blossom.

It's weird to see a top prospect play well and just be put under a microscope

I feel like he's been our best drafted prospect from this rebuild and it's not even close. Shesterkin wasn't from the rebuild so he doesn't count.

Miller had another good game. I'm amazed that we have a 1st rounder that's developed so quickly, plays such a huge role and has so much more room for improvement. Even though it feels like he's been here forever, he's 22 and has only played 112 NHL games. After a season and a half of pro experience he's often used as part of the top pair, has dominant size compared to most Fs, great stickwork and isn't an immobile lump that treats the puck like a hand grenade like you might expect from a 6'4" dman. If he was on another team, there would be hundreds of posts on the roster building thread on what it would take to get him but the pathetic reality is that there are regular posters who keep dumping on him. It's f***ing crazy.
He’s 6”5’

He’s the opposite of Laf & Kakko. Miller is more like the other young studs we envy around the league. He has flashes of greatness that show you why he was so highly touted, moments where he’s dominant, flashy, etc. Laf & Kakko may make less glaring mistakes than Miller, but they also don’t show the great flashes that Miller does. I much prefer highly touted young guys come in and flash elite skill even if it occasionally puts them out of position and causes turnovers, than those young guys just flying under the radar and playing “responsible” but absolutely boring hockey and not developing their elite skill that got them drafted so high.
