Gentleman, any advice on managing a way to get some cheaper tickets? Is waiting and then just trying to snipe one off seatgeek the move?

Down here from upstate and hoping to make my way in.

I know nothing about Seatgeek, so others will have to reply.

Depending on how "hot" the game is, I snipe late (last 2 hrs on stubhub). Then again, I'm not making a commitment to go if little shows up. If the market gets very weak best deals might be had 2 hrs before game?

If the market is relatively normal, 10 minutes before a game sometimes works real well.

You need to have a price in mind (and will commit when your number is reached) , and decide if you (making the trip) or the seller (running out of time) has more pressure on them.

I was just reading an article in the Hockey News about league wise attendance and it stated that the Rangers who recently sold out every game have only sold out 1 game this year so far and are down about 617 in average attendance compared to last year per game.

Not a surprise given the team's performance and the ticket prices. This is the first time that I can remember the Rangers have been aggressively marketing tickets across multiple media platforms..

Yup. But, will they lower prices in the lower bowl? My guess is no. Instead, they will raise the upper bowl and hope that will make the lower bowl prices look, "not as bad". Or, they will have the reps send out questionaires asking if we would like a free pencil or scribble pad with our subscriptions and claim they are giving "gifts" with your subscription.

The idea is that anyone who wants to go to a game has to pay. You don't pay, you don't go, even if there's an empty chair earning $0. It's the A-Hole model of sports ticketing but seems to be working for them

Check out the unsold *primary" tickets for the Knicks game this Friday:

As you can see, they have basically pulled almost all the 400's for themselves instead of re-offering as season tickets. Ditto for the West Balcony. They didn't want STHs undercutting them but then they can't even sell the seats for the Friday before Christmas

Has anyone here done a lot of mobile transfer ticket sales on StubHub? The last time I did one, I got the buyer's name and email address. I sold some seats last night and the email address was [email protected].

I find it hard to believe that StubHub is creating a new email address for every single order they process.

I just spoke to them. Here are the bullet points.
This is a new process.
It's not for every event.
It's not an automated process. A person has to take the seats and then get them to the buyer.
You no longer have to confirm one of these sales.
In my case, it took 7 minutes for me to get a confirmation that I completed the transfer.
They are testing it out, so feel free to call, email, or tweet with feedback.

Any other questions, let me know.

About a month ago they switched from providing names and emails to just supplying names. The email address is [email protected]. Does 2 things. Gives SH control to know the tickets actually transferred and prevents the seller from contacting the buyer about future events thus cutting SH our of the loop.

I get why they did it, but I'm not thrilled mostly in case big brother looks at the email address and sees that they were sold on a website.

I liked the old way. It wasn't difficult to give SH the screenshot....but I know that all that stuff can be faked. This is one of those cases where I think the actual fraud is very small number.

Nope. Sent screen shots w/in 72 hours of game. Next email was "Buyer got your tickets."

Casino night getting steep, the cheapest tickets are now $650 (up $100 from last year)

I got a season ticket holder perk offer from the Knicks for a non-game on-court event, and I thought hey cool sounds interesting. But then I read on and people who want to go have to pay $150 each... So yeah, that's probably coming to the Rangers soon too. Come skate at MSG!! ...for $200/pp...

I had 2 interesting takes from Tuesday's game against Anaheim. The first one is obvious and that is the lower bowl looked about half full for a Christmas week game. I saw rows upon rows that were mostly empty. The second is a little different. I always take the LIRR into the game getting in around 530 and then I go over to a local bar restaurant and grab dinner before the game. Tuesday the LIRR was having signal problems and trains were stopping at Jamaica so I had to take the E train to Penn getting in a few minutes after 6. I just grabbed a couple of slices at Rose Pizza in Penn and got up to my seats in Section 209 about 645. The beer vendor who is always stationed outside of 209 always remembers what kind of beer I drink and we always say a few words to each other. Anyway at 645 it was empty so I mentioned how dead it seemed and he told me that beer sales were way down this year . He said that the regulars buy most of the beer and there are not as many regulars anymore just more tourists. So take it from the beer man who said he has been working at the Garden for 16 years in a prime location that sales are down. I guess Dolan and the Rangers are getting what they want. I think beer sales should be the ultimate barometer as to the crowds they are getting and if the beer guy said they are way down then MSG is in trouble. I don't think $13.50 a beer is the reason when the tickets are almost $100!

Interesting that he says it is the regulars who are drinking. I would think the opposite. The people I know who go only 2-3 times per year spend more on beer at games in total, than people I know who go to 25+ games. Around my seats, the regulars are never drinking, it is the people I have never seen. I know it is a small sample size, but still interesting.

I'm with you on that. Regulars that I know are very restrained. For myself, I usually buy zero or 1 beer at MSG due to the price. I prefer to go to one of the bars on 35th or 36th, or the Rose.

On the note of sales inside the arena, the MSG app is a God send. Granted it's glitchy and a pain in the ass to use but it's made eating inside the arena cheaper than outside which is amazing.

Yeah, I really hope they keep that app discount till the end of the season. Food is actually cheaper inside with the app discount.
