Just over 1,500 tix left on StubHub as of 11 AM. Get in for a pair hovering at around $180-$185 before fees.

If you're thinking of going hold out. This is a boat load of tickets still available for 12PM on a game day. Prices are going to race to the bottom in a matter of hours.

I know you're trying to justify your decision to bail on season tickets, but I don't really see this happening. There's not going to be any race to the bottom if anything it's going to be a race to the top there won't be much left by the start of the game

I don't know about that. This is trending more toward Game 3 than Game 4. Prices are substantially cheaper already than they were much later in the day on Thursday.

I'm not trying to justify anything. I'm perfectly content with my decision. It doesn't mean I'm not interested in what is still going on with ticket prices. I don't really understand a somewhat condescending comment of this nature.

This game is following the exact trajectory, with an even larger supply of tickets, that game 3 followed. There were significantly less tickets available (<1K) at this same time on the day Game 3 was held. The tickets ended up bottoming at $100/ticket and in the last hour prior to gametime could be had for 120-130 easily.

I am fairly certain this game is not going to be a race to the top when we are 6 hours from game time and there are 1.3K tickets still available. That is a significant amount, even in prior years, still available at this time on game day. I also think it's good advice to be holding out for when prices inevitably drop.

I have been buying and selling tickets for years (as have you) and am pretty aware of how the market generally reacts based on supply. This market is clearly indicating a significant dip coming in the hours leading up to this game.

I can't see a race to the top. maybe it's just someone talking their book hoping their listing gets sold on SH.

There is absolutely no upside for a ranger fan spending good money to go tonite. Best they can do is force a game 7. worst is having to see a sad congratulatory handsake on ur home ice with the Sens jumping over together in celebration. Do I wanna spend good $$ on that possibility?

But...if it's cheap enough then maybe

I lowered mine to 200 before fees, yesterday morning. When they didn't sell by the end of the workday, I just took mine down and I am going. Originally had them up at 360 each before fees (buyer sees 400). Had they won game 5, may not have got that much, but I could have easily got 300 each after fees. Oh well.

If I still lived in Manhattan and could wait until 7PM to buy tickets last minute, I would go for under $150, assuming it gets there.

Game 4 was still a pretty good haul for most. Last round was amazing and if they pull out these last two games, next round will be fantastic as well..

Holding your tickets when the Rangers are down in a series until the last day is never a winning formula. I myself have been victim to this many times.

Sorry did not mean to be condescending and actually I think I got you confused with tailgunner

It's the corp crowd that drive up the prices. If this game were on a Sat or Sun it would do a lot worse. I'm just expressing my opinion based on my experience with reselling playoff games. I don't think there's going to be too many bargains, prices will probably end up around where they are now

Agreed. if we are up 3-2 instead then easily $300

Agreed. I "dumped" mine right after game 5 and if I waited I will be going tonite.

Just emailed my rep. Told them I hope this weak secondary market for this round is remembered when they are setting prices next season. Since he was constantly quoting the secondary market when I was complaining about the prices 2 months ago, it is only fair they are used to lower prices moving forward.

The most telling sign is that the Rangers primary inventory, while priced dynamically, remains unsold. As do the tickets on the aftermarket whose prices are driven down by the Rangers dynamic prices. There are between 150-200 unsold tickets on TM. If they remain unsold by 3 and the dynamic pricing decreases, you could see big price drops on SH and the like.

Between SH, TM primary/TM resale, there are probably ~2000 tickets available. Around 11% of capacity up for grabs five hours before puck drop is not a good thing.

They'll never notice that +$200/per to get in the door is just not sustainable for the everyday fan, even those with disposable income.

I saw an interesting banner in my browser when I got an email from StubHub reminding me to buy tickets for tonight...

At the top of the page was this:

"2105 tickets sold so far. Get yours."

So on top of the 1000 that StubHub had listed, StubHub already sold over two thousand for this game...

that's 1/3 of the total listings unsold.

(the 2000 sold I assumed are not all from today but total overall)

3K seems to be about a standard amount, give or take, for most Rangers games. I'm not surprised by this at all. I am surprised that we are 4 hours from game time and there are still over 1K on Stubhub.

Seems they're starting to move.

hah what did they respond?

When do tickets usually go on sale?
For the 2012 Winter Classic (NYR vs PHI) the emails went out in October 24, 2011 that MSG/NYR would be contacting season subscribers around the week of Oct 31, 2011. Then another email that they would be contacting us at a later date based on tenure and availability. The date I got offered tickets was 11/29/11 and I purchased my tickets on 11/30/11.
