I did round by round and they charged my credit card instead of taking from seller credit off the exchange. What a pain considering I used seller credit to pay 1st round and the playoffs last few years. Trying to get that changed now. I cant afford to get hit with the renewal price on the 5th and the playoffs today.

I always select direct deposit for the exchange sales, no reason for them to hold my money. I also saw they were charging for round 2 today - my card is maxed out so it might bounce. Paying it off today but thinking the rep will be calling me first thing in the AM

I know not everyone can do this but there's lot of credit cards that give you free cash if you spend X amount during the first 3-6 months.

It's usually less then were spending these playoffs.

I do a charge per round to my card also, but it's a card I literally only use for these tickets.

Just an idea. I don't open new credit cards too often, but every once in a while I do because you can really get good rewards from the system.

thats the best way to do things for seasons.. get a card with decent rewards and no interest for a year and use it to pay for your seasons/playoff that year. just pay off the balance when the free interest runs out and use the rewards/cash back.

then rinse and repeat for next year.. haha

I pay certain bills that way. YOu don't want to have to many credit cards since your credit rating could be affected, but if you have automated bills throughout the year, it's a great way to get cash rewards for opening new cards.

I rotate through about a card a year rewards wise and then keep 2 open year round that give great rewards even AFTER the initial cash reward for signing up and spending.

Since NBC wanted Sunday afternoon last year, and the last 2 weeks, I am not optimistic about a night game.

Well, the (Mother's Day Rangers) game was at 4pm last year. Either a noon start or a 7pm start would NOT have busted the day.

Since Pitt is getting the Sunday night game you can be sure we'll get the noon start...yet again.

Well, look who we are playing.... If TV wants Pens / Rangers at noon, that is what we will get. The only other game that day in Minnesota / Chicago, and that game will be in the Central Time Zone, so odds are that we'd be a noon start, provided there aren't some other TV obligations for NBC.

Cheers!

Regular NBC has the Player's Championship next weekend, so there won't be a NBC game of the week next weekend and the Mother's Day game will probably be on NBCSports. Don't know if that rules out a noon start or not. If I was to guess, I'd say it does.

I sold my tickets and made a $50/ticket profit, so I can just not worry about it and watch on TV.

NBC Sports Network has a hockey game plugged in for 7:30 PM on Sunday the 11th with a bunch of other nonsense during the day.
I think we (and Mom's out there) are in good shape.
I am not sure NBC would want to cannabilize themselves by putting hockey on NBCSN while golf is on the main network.

Penguins ticket market is turning into a bloodbath for tonight. Almost no tickets sold on stubhub all day, you can now get lowers for $115 if you happen to be in Pittsburgh, or 6 rows from the ice for $117

That's $40 less then my face for the upper bowl :(

I sold game 4 on Stubhub for a $150 profit ($75 per ticket).

I figured it was best to get them off early even if it costs me a little in profits, then take the risk of being stuck with them.

If you travel by United Airlines most of the time I would recommend the Chase United MileagePlus Club Card There is an annual fee of $395 per year but it features the following benefits:
You get 1.5 miles for every purchase no exclusions. Mileage builds up in a hurry
You get 2 X miles for United Airlines ticket purchases.
1st and 2nd checked bags are free for you and one other person traveling with you if booked with your card.
Free access to the United Presidents Club for you and one person travelling with you.

If you fly United one time during the course of the year with one other person and you check two bags each you will be saving $240.00 total just for that one trip so it really helps offset the annual cost of the card.

Actually it's not really the number of credit cards, but rather the % of utilization that effects your rating. Typically having a large number of open, but available, credit lines has only a negligible impact on your score. On the other hand, closing credit cards is not recommended (particularly older ones) as it hurts your rating by lowering the average age of your credit accounts.

It's a whole bunch of factors that go into it. You never close your oldest account, and your total credit line across all accounts does go into the FICO score, as well as how much of that capacity you're using. Most important is to always pay your bills on time and show a wide range of types of credit/loans and track record of paying creditors back

I would have recommended that card prior to the recent bloodbath of a devaluation that United just unveiled. Their new award chart (particularly as relates to partner awards) is beyond dreadful. If you travel a lot on United metal the card could still be a decent choice...but otherwise there are better options imo.

Yes, your total credit line and number of cards goes into it...but I was simply stating that utilization has more impact.

Yep, that's why I rotate a few cards throughout the year. You don't want to have dormant cards (unless it's a store credit card, ala macy's, saks, etc.). Closing cards is also bad. That's why you should really try to limit yourself to a max of one per year.

I usually have 3 at any given time. 1 for the cash back reward and 2 for my regular use that have great rewards programs even after the initial cash back.

It's confusing, but if you can master it, you'll make some extra cash in the process.

I don't do it...but many have reported that having 10 or even 20 accounts open at a time (cycling from one sign up promotion to the next) only dinged their scores by 5 or 10 points. Me, I stick to 2 or 3 cards. Starpoints and Ultimate Rewards Points are my currency of choice.

I'm extremely conservative and have worked hard to keep up a great credit score, so that's not something I would risk. That being said, I'm sure it can be done.

Can now get in the door in Pitt for under $50.

I generally use the citibank thank you premiere for triple points on tickets.

I live in Jersey and fly exclusively from Newark so almost everywhere I fly is on United. So for me personally it makes sense to have this card.
I'm not sure why but I'm still holding on to the Amex Platinum. I originally got it when it got you into Continental's President's Club. I use the awards from the Amex platinum for hotels and us the United Mileage Plus Club card for United Flights.
I should probably downgrade to Amex gold for the lower annual fee. Do you know if there are any differences in the rewards between Platinum and Gold Amex?
