While some folks will cream their pants if/when McIlrath lands a big hit or gets into a fight, the real thing to watch is how he handles the speed of the NHL game.
Zero clue how this addresses the real problem, goal scoring.
Hope McIlrath sticks and adds some stability to the blueline, which is also becoming a problem as this squad continues to slip.
I wonder how long until the fanbase turns on him if he does not deliver. LOL
I'd be sick to my stomach if people flip after a few mishaps
Our whole defense besides McD and occasionally Strals have been having mishaps all year
The way I see it, as long as he doesn't turn the puck over more than Del Zotto and bring along his physicality with that, he'll be fine
Sounds/looks like your mind is already made up, which is just as bad as bashing the kid after a few bad plays.

I'm actually more excited to see him lay some big hits rather than fight, the fighting will come not worried about that...Hit like a freight train Big Mac
That may take some time as he'll probably be a step behind most of the night until he gets used to the speed.
Yeah not expecting an overly aggressive game from him. Just play it a bit safe and make your presence known whenever something breaks out around Hank.
That's what I'll be keeping an eye on the most in the next couple of games.
There was a little too much circle jerking around Hank in the NSH game, would love to see it kept in check a touch bit more when he's on ice.
Giving the kid the benefit of the doubt is somehow equal to turning on him?
Only in your head.
I disagree about the big hits because of the speed of the game laying wood is what this kids all about..He will get his chances and will deliver..Its in his blood
I'd say one shift.
i think the fact that he is being brought up is sending a message to the rest of the team that things need to change. i believe a cup of coffee call up was in the cards anyway, but this is sending a message as well.
this team needs a shake up. back to back bad losses at home and a team that has looked overmatched and uninterested in both those shellackings. they were booed off the ice against washington and that cant continue.
at this point, all the kid needs to do it lay someone out, or beat someone up, or god forbid, score a goal and msg will have a collective orgasm.
this fan base is desperate for something good to happen to this team. if big mac plays his cards right and throws a thunderous check or two, gets into a tussle protecting henrik and some how manages to score the game winning goal, he will become legend in his first game.
maybe none of that happens and hes invisible most of the night- not a bad thing, and this team comes out and plays with passion, speed and purpose and wins comfortably- then honestly, this kid may be just what the doctor ordered.
