That's at least two more seasons of this:

Nice!!

Looking forward to seeing Kreider take things to the next level this year.

Hopefully the Rangers told him to tone down his workouts.

Why? It seems to be working fine for him. On XM a couple of weeks ago they had the owner of the gym where Kreider and MSL and Richards go. It was a really interesting interview about how they tailor their diets and workouts depending on the players age, abilities, where in the off season they are and what they need to improve. They seemed really on top of things.

Klein will be traded before the start of next season ('15-'16).

Allen, McIlrath, and Skjei.

The first two were nearly ready for 3rd line minutes this year. Both will make less than 1 mill. Difference of 2 million dollars.

With Zucc, MSL, Step, Hags, Staal, and Talbot all FA's... and potentially even Brassard, too.

Saving 2 million is huge.

I agree unfortunately, can't give raises and sign Staal with 2.9 on the 3rd pairing unless some other big deal occurs.

Lol, Allen, maybe. McIlrath's stint was nothing more then to get the blood boiling of a lifeless team. If anything, it showed he's not anywhere near being ready for the NHL. Maybe by next year, but I still have my doubts. As it stands right now, calling him nearly ready for 3rd line minutes, is just asinine.

Good deal. If Kreider matured a little quicker that number would have been a lot higher. Good term for the next two years for a kid that should finally start getting consistent.

If these playoffs are a sign of whats to come night in and night out, and Kreider finally gets it, we can all expect a MaxPac like explosion in his productivity.

My gut instinct is that he hits 30 goals this upcoming season and next barring injury.

I would be excited for 25 goals this season.. He scored 17 last year in just over 60 games. very possible, with a full season of maturing and depending on who he plays with

i know right the last thing the rangers need are powerful forwards...

Stepan needs to start training with Krieder...

it's a balancing act. This team has trouble scoring and can't afford forwards. I think having Klein is a luxury. He's top 4 on many teams, but he's third pair here and you need to ask if you want to have the best third pair in the league, or spend $1MM less and have that money to upgrade another position, as in next season when MSL is gone. With MSL gone and Klein's replacement making at least $1MM less (or more), then you have, in theory, $6.6MM to replace MSL. I'm not saying what should be done; not smart enough these days, but I can see the logic in going lighter on the third defense pair/insurance policy in case of injury to augment the offense.

MSL is gonna be gone next season? Why the hell did we get him then?

Not only should he basically be obligated to come back, he should sign for a very team friendly cap hit.

Why should he be obligated? He owes us nothing.

There's a very real possibility that St. Louis is going to decline soon. I'll worry about bringing him back after I see what he does this year.

I doubt MSL leaves after next season, unless he retires. My son plays hockey near CT and all of MSL kids are over there now and playing in the same program. I think him and his entire family are settling in to stay long term, probably for good.

I think that will depend on the direction in which the team is going and if they want a 40 year old winger. Further, perhaps he wants to sign for two more seasons and the Rangers not not and someone else will. And why did the Rangers get him? For a push into the Stanley Cup Finals last season and this season, I think.

Good deal. Hopefully he has an amazing year and next summer work out a long term deal with him. I have been Kreiders biggest fanboy since june of 2009.
