How much is left for Moore and Brass?
What does this do to the chances of getting Hayes? Any impact?

Brooks is fantastic when he doesn't put his blinders on. When he does, he's so biased its horrible. Gotta take the good with the bad. And just avoid his articles like the plague during a lockout.

Brassard and Moore shouldn't be more than 6.5 mil combined, though they will probably come in lower than that. My guess is about 6 mil total. That leaves 2 to 2.5 mil for 3 more players (or 2 if we only carry 1 spare).
We have lots of candidates to fill those 2 or 3 spots. Kostka, Hunwick, Mueller, Miller, Lindberg, Bourque, Fast, Kristo, McIlrath, Allen, Haggerty, Hrivik. Outside shot of Duclair. Hayes if we sign him. All of those players are on ELCs or cheap contracts.
My guess is Kostka or Hunwick as 7th dman and 2 of Miller, Fast, Lindberg, Bourque.
About $7MM, depending on who is the 13th F and 7th D (assuming they keep extras).
Kreider's still got a ton of upside to reach for. 13 points in 15 playoff games and his strength, size and speed gave Pittsburgh, Montreal and Los Angeles all kinds of problems. He's got good hands and a great shot as well and his passing and playmaking kind of fly under the radar. IMO he is more important to the Rangers future than any other forward we have.
Has to improve a bit on his defensive play. Could ratchet up the physical play a bit too. He could be a big star.
Good deal. Think kreider takes another step forward this season.
According to Brooks the Rangers have 7.025 million in cap space, but cap geek (when kreider gets applied) will have 6.35..
Hopefully Brass falls under 5 and Moore gets 1.. Then try to get a few depth guys in here and call it an offseason.
Capgeek is including players that Brooks isn't. They have both Kostka and Hunwick on the team, but one of them will be in the AHL for sure.
Kreider 2 years. I'll take it! Lower cost than I thought too. Maybe I'm getting greedy but I would have liked to lock him up for another year or two. Not going to lose sleep over it.
Don't see any reason Brass and Moore can't be signed now.

Just one?
I have a feeling Kevin Hayes is NYR bound meaning they are both AHL bound
I think the Zuccs discount thsi year is ear marked for Hayes. While a Free Agent, he is still going to be bound to ELC terms.
well. I am hoping that was the reason.

I think we all would've like to sign Kreider to a longer deal, but CK probably would've wanted more cash to extend longer. This is fine. Let him develop more and start looking to extend him next season.
Not to derail the thread, but there are plenty of bloggers that know more about the game of hockey and the Rangers than most of the guys on our beat; Gross included. Hell, RangerBoy and a few other people on this board are better than they are.
Brooks, in my opinion, is the best guy we have right now. He's got the best sources, and really knows the business side of the game as well. Sunday Slapshots are usually a good read. The only thing with Brooks is that he allows his bias to get in the way a lot - which takes away from what can be good reporting. Might just come with the territory of working for the Post, though.
I hate our beat. Have hated it since Weinman left to cover golf.
Cool. You know hockey. But you aren't a journalist.
