Every time I see Sean Day's picture I think of Lieutenant Dan.

Sorry, what're you referring to here?
It's about Kjellberg, and the discussions about nepotism potentially playing a role in his pick. And then, subsequently, people stating that the Kjellberg pick can't be due to nepotism, because if nepotism existed in the front office, Chris Drury's son would have obviously been picked by us.

And then I made the point that you could have a situation where Chris Drury and his son didn't want to play together, and that not drafting Jack Drury doesn't "prove" that there was no nepotism involved in the Kjellberg pick. Because really, one situation doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the other. And that was confusing, I guess. But we all agreed to move past it.

Hate to be that guy but Jack is Chris' nephew, not his son

Just a minor thing but Jack Drury isn’t Chris’ son, but nephew

Edit: beaten to it

Reunanen, Ragnarsson, Virta all played today, and none had any points or anything particularly noteworthy.
Rykov played today too. Sochi is in the middle of their Far East trip. Today they beat Amur in SO 3:2. Rykov with the most ice-time among all skaters with 25+ min. Over a minute more than the second highest. As I was predicting at around 10 game mark his average ice time would be climbing up. It's now over 19 min per game.

I love this kid. I feel like he’s a bit underrated by the fan base as a prospect. I really hope he comes over and agrees to play for Hartford. He’s a heck of a player

Same. Cautiously optimistic that he'll be able to stick around in NHL. My concern is because of our experience with Bear Gloves but Rykov is a better skater already.

Rykov by far a much better skater/athlete. I just worry he won’t stay in Hartford. He’s going to have to if he wants to come over.

I suspect he'll get a good look next season with a Staal buyout and/or Smith trade. If he does go to Hartford it won't be for the season. Will still only be 22 with good pro experience. Could become a huge under the radar pick up by Gorton.

It's probably a testament to some of the prospects the Rangers have that so much attention is diverted.

Rykov would've been getting a lot more attention just 12 months ago.

I think because he was acquired via trade, plays in the KHL, and played basically as his teams 7th D until being traded, it's easy to overlook him. Getting big minutes and maybe some national team attention might get him on the radar.

I think Lindgren/Hajek/Rykov will all be pushing for Smith's spot on the left side next season. Hajek might have an edge though, already being in the system and accustomed to NA style play.

As for Staal I have my doubts they'll buy him out...the coaching staff actually likes him a lot apparently and they see him as veteran leadership for all of the young players. Even if he doesn't play out the next two years of his contract, I think he'll be back next season.

I agree on Staal. I think it's far more likely they find a way to move Smith and possibly even Shattenkirk to create some room. Hajek and Rykov play both sides

Rykov seems to be on different planet talent wise than Bear Gloves.

Bereglazov was playing as a regular in the KHL at the age of 20 and he became a top-4 for Metallurg (one of the better teams in the KHL) when he was only 22. His ROLE wasn't that much different than Rykov's right now. I do agree that Rykov is more talented but the difference is definitely not on a "different planet" level and the question of whether Rykov's game will translate to NHL still remains.

Bereglazov couldn’t skate or make a play at this level. It was clear from even traverse city.

Rykov can skate the river. Great athlete. Talented. No comparison other than nationality realky

I got jumped all over the last time I suggested Lundkvist was having an up-and-down season. If that's not the case, why is it that in his last 5 games, he has played 7:31, 5:05, 8:44, 15:09 and 7:34?

His five prior games, he played 12:11, 16:19, 12:21, 12:22, and 11:07.

They may play both sides but they both shoot left so I suspect that's where the team will want them to play

I'm not sure anyone can answer that question for you unless we have a Lundkvist fan hiding somewhere that watches all his games and is very familiar with the team he plays on. He's a very young player in that league and icetime may not necessarily be an indicator of his actual play. The team could feel that it wants to lean on some veteran players at the moment and he's pushed down because of seniority. Or perhaps he was playing poorly and got his icetime cut.

Without more context on that I don't think we can say that his play has been up and down, the most we can say is that his icetime has been up and down

I think Rykov is prime Staal with a slightly better offensive vision and better skating. I don't see us playing both Staal and Rykov on a particular night, so idk how I feel about him coming over next season because if we are truly letting Staal play out his contract then the poor kid is gonna buried in Hartford for no reason.
