They may play both sides but they both shoot left so I suspect that's where the team will want them to play

I'm not sure anyone can answer that question for you unless we have a Lundkvist fan hiding somewhere that watches all his games and is very familiar with the team he plays on. He's a very young player in that league and icetime may not necessarily be an indicator of his actual play. The team could feel that it wants to lean on some veteran players at the moment and he's pushed down because of seniority. Or perhaps he was playing poorly and got his icetime cut.

Without more context on that I don't think we can say that his play has been up and down, the most we can say is that his icetime has been up and down
We've had guys like @ManUtdTobbe come in and give us reports on Lundkvist. Others, too. I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

I am a Luleå fan, somewhat... ;)

Luleå is not a strong franchise but they are leading the league so far. Winning a lot of 2-1 games and so forth. Nils L is basically on the 4th pairing. He gets more time when they have more favorable match-ups but in the grind fests they tend to get involved in his minutes haven’t taken off this season after his slow start.

I know that they really like him there and that everyone agrees that he is back on track playing better.

It should be a matter of time before he gets a bigger role.

Okay, so the reason why Lundkvists TOI is down lately is because Pontus Själin is back from injury, Lundkvist was playing in his spot, now he's back to being the 7th D. I don't really think it's fair to say his season has been up down up down, it's more of a down then slowly up.

He started the season in the top 6 but he didn't play as well as he did last spring so he was overtaken and became the 7th D. He started playing better after that and then Själin got hurt so Lundkvist was back in the top 6, i thought he played pretty well during that stint but the coaches seem to still not be convinced and hold guys like Sondell and Engsund above him which i very much disagree with, Engsund is a pylon who's more worried about finding the next big hit then play hockey.

I hold out hope that the coaches start seeing what i see soon, but even if they don't it's not the end of the World, him averaging 8-11 minutes in SHL while playing a game for SuperElit here and there wouldn't be the worst thing in the World, he's still an 18 year old being an SHL regular on a top team.

He'll get more chances up the lineup as others play fall off or when injuries hit, or if he just elevates his play and forces the issue.

Yeah, one injury he is back in and he will have every shot at staying there. In addition, its not a given that he actually will make the team, but Nils will also miss a lot of time for Luleå in the near future due to the WJCs. 3+ weeks in the midst of the season? Think the coach wants to keep everyone going until the spring.

This is a very important point. Lundkvist’s icetime just as lack of points for Kravtsov earlier in the season requires context in order to properly evaluate.

Conn v Mass on Eleven Sports 623 DTV starting 7pm E tonight. It's also on NESN Alt 628-1 but that's blacked out on DTV.

Wisc. v Penn State 8pm tonight FSWisconsin 669 DTV.

For the curious, BC v BU on NESN 628 7:30pm tonight.

He is, I do like him. Last night was one of those games though, where Newhook had primary assist on two of Hughes' goals, Huges had one of his assists on a Newhook goal, and his other assist was a secondary assist with Newhook having the primary assist on the play. So 4 of the 5 points involved Newhook in a direct fashion.

Now obviously he has to be good enough to permanently play wing with Newhook, and good enough to convert the chances and things like that, but he is the direct recipient of a huge amount of support from a likely top-ten pick in a mediocre junior league. That doesn't detract from him--he's definitely skilled. Just some context. It's why, as @Brooklyn Rangers Fan said, it will be exciting to see what he can do when he's not in such a favorable situation.

Woah, that’s quite the game for Hughes. Such an intriguing late round flier. Can’t wait to see how he performs in the NCAA.
Glad Lakatoš picked up some points. He was given a great opportunity with Zlín, playing 1C, after playing 4C with White Tigers. Hopefully he can seize it.

Holy f***, our old friend Carl Klingberg broke his neck. He's walking already and signs are positive, but damn.

Yeah, and not to mention, kids push each other. No better environment than playing with someone pushing the bar so to speak. Like it’s not always easy for a kid who by far is the best young player in an area with a 500 mile radius to realize what it takes. It’s like that MoDo generation where like 10-12 players out of maybe 50-60 became NHLers (Forsberg, Naslund, Sami Paulsson, Sundström and a bunch of others).

Just an update on Barron since Cornell is now on break.

He was excellent as per usual last night and with the all of the injuries on the team he is actually playing some center. You can all talk about him maybe being a center now. He's been shooting a ton all season just hasn't had the finish you'd like to see from him even though he leads the team in goals. His assists are down because last year he was on a line with Trevor Yates who was a really good shooter and this year he's got Donaldson again who's more of a playmaker and Regush or Andreev who are TBD (I haven't watched them enough but both look pretty good). Right now this team looks like a vintage Kings team who dominates possession and can't score. Galajda has been bad and the defense has been really hurt. Team results should turn around from this with this break to get everyone healthy.

His skating and playmaking look really good. I mentioned the play he made above but it was on a good forecheck in the corner and a slick behind the back pass to a guy in the slot. His shot could still use some work especially because Cornell's PP1 is 4L 1R and Barron is the triggerman on the Right wall. A lot of his goals have been really greasy and he goes hard to the net. He's starting to PK after all the injuries and hasn't looked terrible but definitely not comfortable there yet. I said his upside was better skating Boyle but I think it might be higher, maybe even top-6. He still has a lot of work to do and I don't think he'll leave after this year. Junior year is now a possibility given how well he's played.

Thanks! I’m kind of envisioning his eventual NHL role as a 2nd-3rd line scoring winger

You and @GeorgeKaplan have been awesome with your Barron/Miller updates. Rad af.

It's honestly so exciting to have a Ranger pick that I can follow every game. I'd be excited if he was garbage so it's really awesome to see him do well.

Also we have the Islander's Yao Ming aka Mischa Song. Even with all the injuries Song still can't crack the lineup. If you think Kjellberg was a reach good lord Song was worse.

EDIT: Song is one of two skaters to not play and the other is Ryan Bliss who is basically a walking injury at this point.

Agreed. This is what we need! No fan has the time to keep track of all our prospects but with these 2 kids updating us on the college prospects, @ManUtdTobbe and @Ola focusing on the Nordic countries, it makes it a whole lot easier for this fanbase.

It's why I've been posting more. I've been lurking on here since I was in college and started getting into prospects. Now with Barron I feel like I have something to contribute rather than learn.
