Transition eras are always the most difficult to gauge because you become set in how things were viewed previously.

I remember the days when a goals against average under 3 and a save percentage above 90 was seen as a sign of being one of top goalies in the league.

I was a teenager the first time I can recall seeing multiple guys going past 91 percent on their save percentages and dropping below 2.5 on their goals against. That seemed wild.
I was goalie (mostly Richter) obsessed in the late 90's and once butterfly goalies took over and GAA started to plummet I was very resentful that Richter's stats didn't stand up anymore. I remember 2.6+ GAA for Richter and fawning over those numbers and Mike's athleticism. 7 years later if you saw that number it would be grounds for a demotion.

Maybe, but maybe he returns to Frolunda for a victory lap season, or 2
Doubtful. He's no Jagr. Lundqvist is all about the hockey but at the end of the day you can see he's really about two things: his family and NYC. They are the reasons he won't ever accept a trade despite better opportunities to win elsewhere. He's extremely competitive and wants to win, but he wants to do it in NYC near his family and roots he's put down. As a father I quite frankly respect the shit out of him for it (though I wouldn't mind seeing his contract off the books these days). Going weeks without seeing the little ones is tough and it's time you can never get back.

thanks, i do get that;
Hank and his family spend off-seasons back in Sweden,
i was wondering if they might go back, as a family, to the city and team which are also a big part of his life

Robin Lehner often mentions Hank's dad as one of the key influences of his development in Frolunda

Cool, did not know that about spending summers there, makes sense. Summers though are a different beast from during the year due to schooling etc. Some folks like stability for their kids and others might see it as a mind expanding experience. We'll have to wait and see I guess ;)

The other thing to consider is that Shestyerkin, for all of his talent, has not played a substantial workload in the last few years. Getting his total games up this year should be a priority. 55-60 games should be the goal no matter the level and the AHL gives him the best opportunity to get a bunch of games
Not to mention building a winning culture in Hartford. That is pretty important for all the other prospects.

Wisconsin v Minnesota 8pm tonight on FoxSports Wisconsin tomorrow at 8pm FoxSports North (Alternate).

Barron went scoreless for the first time this year. It was a very tight defensive game. Quinnipiac can't score worth shit but they can shut teams down and they clearly focused on stopping Barron especially on the PP. Barron had a few chances as well and some really nice passing but was not able to get his shot off much. That's definitely something he can work on.

Seems like Pajuniemi has taken a nice step in development. This is why I really like taking European or NCAA players late because of the 4 years of development time instead of 2 when it comes to CHL players.

The extra time to develop under team control is huge. CHL guys early in drafts is ideal, as they should be closer to NHL readiness.

Exactly, and this is almost an understatement. He hasn’t played much at all. When/if he takes over in the NHL he must be ready to play 60 games. And there is a big difference between getting 20 shots a game for a dominant SKA 25 games a season give or take a few games.
I don’t disagree... but the league is trending in a more even split like say 48/34 or 50/32. Atleast that would prob be ok for his 1st cpl seasons I would think

Barron went scoreless again tonight and Ofer the weekend. Solid game with some solid chances but he's definitely starting to get focused more. Not sure whether it's a strength or skill issue but hopefully he can play his way out of it. He's struggled the last two years against tighter checking teams. and so far it's the same. He can light up teams like MSU and Yale who play a very open system but he needs to be able to do it more consistently vs well-coached tight checking teams. He's certainly creating more this year but he hasn't been able to get the A+ chances or convert on the C+/B- chances.

While I agree with you on this I think it's worth pointing out this is Pajuniemi's 2nd season after being drafted

Yes, and while we could bring him over next fall, he could continue in Finland while playing in a top 5 league. Maybe they do bring him over and let him get AHL time, but they can really just let him marinate even more and have that happen in another year. It's a great situation.

Please help me get a sense of timetables.

Assuming the following players were to eventually reach the NHL, what are optimistic and conservative timetables for when we could expect to see them on NYR?

(Ignoring potential roadblocks like too many good players at position X; Focusing just on development readiness)

Karl Henriksson
Morgan Barron
Lauri Pajuniemi

Joey Keane
Nils Lundkvist
Matthew Robertson
K'Andre Miller
Zac Jones
Hunter Skinner
Tarmo Reunanen

Adam Huska
Tyler Wall

Other -- feel free to add players
