Linbom is 19. Give him a little time.

Look, Mora is a bad team, but he’s been back a month and not only can’t carry his team, he can’t even nail down the starting job against a guy who’s not even SHL replacement level.

Maybe the light bulb goes off and he Hanks up, but I wouldn’t hold my breath over it.

P.S. coolest thing about Mora’s rink is that the thing where the usher holds you back for a break in the action is at the entry to the entire rink.

Nico Gross was scoreless and -1 in a 6-4 win. He had 12 points in his first 13 and has now scored 7 points in his subsequent 17. His pace over the last 17 is 3 points ahead of what he did last season.

Hunter Skinner was scoreless in a 7-1 win. He had 22 points in his first 24 games and has now recorded 2 assists in his last 16 games.

Wow, what the heck happened to him?

I don't know, honestly. Not sure if his usage shifted, but even then, that's an enormous drop-off.

I normally try to watch at least 2-3 junior games involving our kids and 1-2 NCAA games each week. And whatever I can at work of the Euro kids. I've been much more busy than normal, and just tired, so all I really do now is watch Hartford games and the rare CHL game.

Corey Pronman at The Athletic came out with his prospect rankings and K'andre Miller has fallen off the entire list. After watching him in the recently completed tournament, I am not surprised.

Kravtsov is still on the list, but he has dropped quite a bit.

If Kravtsov was born 2 weeks later, and eligible for the WJC, he'd be top of that list still. Pronman, and especially Button, rely heavily on the WJC to rate European prospects. I've never really cared much for their rankings because it's so painfully obvious they don't watch half the players they rank, enough to judge them.

Kravtsov from 1 to 36 seems like they forgot about him and just randomly added them later on

He was never top of that list and this season has been a disaster for Kravtsov. Doesn't mean he won't be a good NHL player, but how much worse could this year have gone for Kravtsov?

honestly i’ve only seen KAM rated very highly on this board. it’s not indicative of much but most prospect rankings of seen don’t love KAM like this board does.

When a player has a few good months, we always hear "It's a small sample size. We need to see more" but when a player has a bad month (and it basically was just 1 bad month) that is used as justification to vilify a player and have him drop on prospect lists.

Kravtsov has had a bad month in which he was demoted to the VHL and returned to Hartford. Is that really reason enough to drop him that far off the list? I don't know

Probably because Miller is a guy who, if he’s going to hit, is going to start hitting years after the players towards the top of these lists

Why would Miller hit later than the others?
Raw defensive prospect who has a large frame who uses skating as an asset (takes time to grow into the frame and get NHL level balance and strength on skates, took Kreider, Zbad, Hayes etc. years to acclimate and they're forwards with less to learn regarding responsible defensive play), also he hasn't been playing the position all that long so add an extra year or two for that as well

Why would Miller hit later than the others?
He started playing defense like 2 years before he was drafted, and it’s evident when watching him that he still has a lot to learn defensively and then it’s going to take a while for what he’s being told to do to become instinctual when he’s on the ice

Not true, last season Miller was widely (if not universally) talked about as a steal of the draft by these same hockey talking heads / experts.

Isn't Seider of similar build? His stock is rising and lots of folks were shocked when he was taken. I think I remember Edge taking a swipe at Yzerman about the pick.

Sporting News had Miller 28th before this past draft. And it was a list that included the guys that then went on to be drafted. Pronman had him 48th coming into the year. Wheeler didn't have him in his top 50, but he was the first player mentioned as just missing the 42-50 range. ESPN/Peters had him 37th coming in. We could go on and on. He was regarded quite highly by most of the major pundits out there. A notable exception is Button, who did not have him on his top 50, but did have Kravtsov #1 overall...so. Most prospect rankings do love K'Andre, or at least, they did before the season.

Can't remember if I commented on the selection itself, I was just happy we weren't the team using a high pick on him or moving assets to get him.

I think Veleno and Seider are both guys for whom the fantasy upside outweighs what I'm actually seeing out there.

He's still ranked 25th overall out of drafted prospects. You or I might have him ranked higher, but really that's not an unreasonable ranking based on how this season has gone.

Same build. Seider's floor is way higher, K'andres ceiling is way higher. Right now Seider is more polished, Miller has far better tools

I remembered thinking that you don't like Yzerman.
