Alain Vigneault has indicated to the Dallas Stars that he no longer wants to be considered for the head coaching position there.
I believe Alain Vigneault will end up as head coach with either the New York Rangers or the Dallas Stars. Both teams are high on him, as they should be.
With Vigneault out in Dallas,it will lead to a lot of speculation that he's headed to NYR .Stay tuned for more developments.
A poster who has a good track record with inside information on the Dallas board had this to stay earlier:Pierre LeBrun earlier this evening

AV was the guy we've been pushing for. Hes been waiting on the Rangers though and theyve been back and forth. Seems he'd rather be coaching them anyways if he's waiting on them. Hearing today is a decision day for them.
Multiple sources told ESPNNewYork.com that Vigneault is a top candidate for the vacant coaching job with the Dallas Stars. He interviewed with general manager Jim Nill before flying to California to meet with the Rangers.
League source: Vigneault with inside track on Rangers' job, offer may be forthcoming. Story will be up soon on http://NYPost.com/sports
I told them not to hire AV. They went and did it anyway.![]()
With Alain Vigneault withdrawing himself from DAL job, expectation is he has an offer to coach NYR tho no one has officially confirmed that.

That would make sense. Why would Vigneault withdraw from the Dallas job without being close to getting or getting the Ranger job?
I think when Messier talked to the press today it was a last ditch effort to gain public support for the job.
