McD pushes him, but the player still can roll off of the push without cutting through the crease.

King is headed towards the slot. McD pushes him TOWARDS the goal line. The momentum carries him into Hank's path. Not a thing he could have done to avoid the contact. I know a thing or two about skating. Seems you don't, at all.

So wouldn't that mean it was incidental contact? And therefore, the goal still should have been waived off?

Sorry. Just had to get that out of the way.

****.

I really can't get past this lose and why they lost. That 3rd goal should have never been allowed and then less than 30 seconds after LA should have been called for delay of game, they score the winning goal. I can deal with the Rangers getting outplayed and losing, but I'm having a real tough time with this one where they lose a game they should have win because of bad officiating.

I don't think so, I have been looking, but there was the quote from Hank:

"Benny got pushed in and tried to avoid him, and he gets two minutes. And the puck was not even there," Lundqvist said. "Then, we have the same play and they score. I don't think it's a penalty, but you've got to stop the play if the goalie can't move in his crease. It's not like I'm outside the crease. I play pretty deep. Just be consistent with it."

"Be consistent with it," he said. "If they don't call that [on King], you can't call what they called in the second period."

and he is right, this is why I think they should go back to one ref, more consistency.

Bingo!!!! With one ref you will still have horrible reffing but it will be consistently horrible. Now you have inconsistently horrible reffing and the players don't know what will be called and when. All the players ask is to be consistent. With two refs that is impossible.

Its crazy that Pou got called for goalie interference for a lesser offense in the same game.

You are allowed to skate through the crease.

The interference doesn't happen because of the positioning and contact stemming from that. It happens because King is swinging at the puck in a downward motion, which prevents Hank from bringing his blocker and right arm up to make the save.

I agree that especially the 3rd goal were horrendous and changed the game. But I CANNOT agree with the bolded. If Kreider, Zucc, Richards, Stralman bury 1 of their combined 5+ glorious chances they are going back to MSG at 1-1. If they could cut down on the turnovers by say, 20, they could be going back 1-1. If Richards can make a pass or win a puck battle, they could be going back 1-1. If Ranger defensemen could clear the crease, they could be going back 1-1. If Rick Nash could not put 80% of his shots into Quick's chest, they could be going back 1-1.

They got hosed and it was a big factor. They also flat out **** the bed repeatedly when it matter most. As pissed as I am at that call I am 100x more pissed at the lack of execution.

Yup. It was a horrible call but the Rangers had plenty of good chances to put the game away after that and failed to capitalize. The lack of finish/killer instinct and inability to close games out in this series has been frustrating.

I'm way more pissed about the Rangers play on the powerplay than I am about the screwed up call.

No speed through the neutral zone to gain entry.
Not matching the effort level of the PKers once in the zone.

It was simply awful.

The next game should be officiated by Dan O'Halloran's severed head on a stick.

"Oh, but he's only human." Yes, and we have dozens of machines that can run checks for human error. Instead of using that information, we'd rather just watch a blown call over and over again.

But, if the NHL doesn't think something like that is important to the game, then I guess I don't think Dan O'Halloran's head remaining attached to his body is important to his lifestyle.

EDIT: The machines are cameras, in case that isn't clear.

Your username is amazing.

The Rangers had several chances to put the game away at 4-4. Didn't get it done. Incredibly entertaining hockey though. On to the next one.

Still super depressed. Missed the third goal and just watched it now and I'm in utter shock that that's not goalie interference. Absolutely terrible call in the SCF. That just cannot happen.

It's pissing me off that the main boards still aren't giving our team any credit either. The Kings have not led in this series yet. I know they are up 2-0, but jeez, they literally have not led for a second.

I still think the Rangers have been better overall in this series. Both games where the Rangers had two horrible giveaways in the defensive zone and got burned on them. That crap can't continue. Of course the royal screwing from the refs in game 2 didn't help. Take Game 3 & Game 4 and we're back in business. The Kings have lost games in bunches this playoffs, so it's definitely possible.

Look at Nolan's stick.

Disgrace. The NHL is a joke.

The Rangers will win games 3 and 4. They will game 5 in LA in OT. Its never easy with this team. LA is due for a 3 game losing streak. Every bounce has gone their way.

Goal should have been called off no doubt about it. Referee could have disallowed goal without giving penalty. No other choice but for the Rangers to forget about it and play a solid 60 minutes Monday.

What is McDonagh supposed to do there, let the guy go unimpeded? I can't believe Rangers fans are actually saying it was the right no call.

I don't think they do:

One NHL source told ESPN The Magazine there was momentum at the last general managers meeting to expand replay, including a suggestion to put a monitor in the penalty box to help with goalie-interference calls, but the GMs received pushback from the league on the issue. There's a real fear of unintended consequences if replay is expanded in a sport that makes it much more complicated than in other sports.

Asked at his annual state-of-the-game news conference before Game 1 about expanded replay, commissioner Gary Bettman said the league plans to continue moving with caution when it comes to replay.

"If we're going to take the next step and it's something we're discussing internally, it's going to have to be a series of discreet things we're comfortable we can get right," Bettman said. "Yes, you have an occasional call that is wrong, inopportune, glaring in its consequence, but when you devise a system to deal with those handful of instances, are you going to make it worse by the unintended consequences that follow? That's why we move slowly."
