King is headed towards the slot. McD pushes him TOWARDS the goal line. The momentum carries him into Hank's path. Not a thing he could have done to avoid the contact. I know a thing or two about skating. Seems you don't, at all.
I don't think so, I have been looking, but there was the quote from Hank:
"Benny got pushed in and tried to avoid him, and he gets two minutes. And the puck was not even there," Lundqvist said. "Then, we have the same play and they score. I don't think it's a penalty, but you've got to stop the play if the goalie can't move in his crease. It's not like I'm outside the crease. I play pretty deep. Just be consistent with it."
"Be consistent with it," he said. "If they don't call that [on King], you can't call what they called in the second period."
and he is right, this is why I think they should go back to one ref, more consistency.
You are allowed to skate through the crease.
I agree that especially the 3rd goal were horrendous and changed the game. But I CANNOT agree with the bolded. If Kreider, Zucc, Richards, Stralman bury 1 of their combined 5+ glorious chances they are going back to MSG at 1-1. If they could cut down on the turnovers by say, 20, they could be going back 1-1. If Richards can make a pass or win a puck battle, they could be going back 1-1. If Ranger defensemen could clear the crease, they could be going back 1-1. If Rick Nash could not put 80% of his shots into Quick's chest, they could be going back 1-1.
They got hosed and it was a big factor. They also flat out **** the bed repeatedly when it matter most. As pissed as I am at that call I am 100x more pissed at the lack of execution.
The next game should be officiated by Dan O'Halloran's severed head on a stick.
"Oh, but he's only human." Yes, and we have dozens of machines that can run checks for human error. Instead of using that information, we'd rather just watch a blown call over and over again.
But, if the NHL doesn't think something like that is important to the game, then I guess I don't think Dan O'Halloran's head remaining attached to his body is important to his lifestyle.
EDIT: The machines are cameras, in case that isn't clear.
Wow, pretty clear from this that McDonagh tries to push King away from Hank, but King is fighting his way through the crease. That, my friends, is the definition of goaltender interference.
